The worst film was the 4th. It was absolutely ass, more action than a racing movie, more fiction than any of the others.

The strongest film is tokyo drift. Best storyline out of all of them.

I cringe at the frs or brz being featured. Last thing I need is a bunch of ugly ass pimply faced ricers trying to race me at every corner.

Whats funny is the BR-Z guys bought a car to be a little more mature or "grown up" compared to a scion, and now the brz will be the car that all the ricers see on the big screen and try to duplicate....kind of ironic

Maybe it was because I had already seen the live-action version of Initial-D but I felt like that was a far better "drift-racing-type movie" than TD... even if that one did also in hindsight have terrible acting as well, the driving sequences were so much better. I do feel like with F&F and F5 the series picked up again, I mean it had to after hitting rock bottom with Tokyo Drift.
To be fair, maybe Tokyo Drift was the way it was because of a lot of other factors. Ever since drifting got really popular, damn near everyone was expecting a third Fast and Furious movie to involve drifting, if it came to fruition. Also, maybe the stars like Paul Walker and Vin Diesel didn't really want to have a lot of involvement (hence their absence and Vin Diesel's appearance being limited to a cameo) since they may have assumed that the franchise was going into a downward spiral based on 2F2F and its reviews. But someone must've liked Tokyo Drift for Universal to have approved a fourth installment, one that brought back much of the original cast. If it were so bad, they would've just let it die, or at least use a different director.

Regarding the Initial D live action movie, it just didn't "feel" like a movie. The car stunts were cool, but the camera angles made me feel like I was watching Best Motoring more than a car movie. And I hate those stupid commercials at the beginning of the DVD that you can't skip on most players.

Or perhaps they could've just used gutted FR-Ss with BRZ bumpers.

I still think that the second film was the absolute worst, even though it at least had star power. The fourth one definitely had its unrealistic segments (street racers being hired to smuggle millions' worth of heroin through imaginary underground tunnels large enough to allow cars through it) while transforming the characters into superheroes (just think of how all of a sudden Vin Diesel becomes Batman when it comes to deductive reasoning or Superman when he took a bullet in the shoulder and kept moving along like nothing happened).

But frankly, you'll have to deal with all that. A car like the FR-S/BRZ is not inaccessible to teens, so it comes with the territory.

The more the BRZ is marketed in this movie the more potential there is for Subaru to inflate its price. *High five to us early adopters*

Funny how you mention accuracy on Asians. I must say something abut your statement seems Linaccurate.

4. 2 Fast 2 Furious (2nd Movie)
5. Fast and Furious (4th Movie)

Looks like 6 will be before tokyo drift in the timeline with Sung Kang in it
I pretty much agree with you. The first one did start it all (and lead to about 50% or the sarcastic answers you get on car forums).

I'm just glad I'm not the only one that liked Tokyo Drift

I don't think supplies are limited anymore. There are 12 used and 133 new available near me according to autotrader. I think FR-S would make more sense though from a business perspective, F&F seems to fit their target demographic better.

I had a black 1995 Honda Accord EX coupe with intake/exhaust, Skunk2s, 18" Racing Harts and a carbon fiber hood before the movie came out. I also took it to the first movie. I dug this picture up:

Comparing the first 2 films with the last 3 films is like apples to oranges. The first 2 focus on portraying the import scene (from Hollywood's perspective) where story doesn't matter. Part 2 is like a made-for-TV-movie. The Lin films show a more serious attempt at storyline using cars as a background theme. The first two have a '90s production quality feel whereas Lin's use distinctly 2000s film techniques. Tokyo Drift is a hybrid of the zanyness from the first two and seriousness from the last 2. The last 2 are recyclings of existing heist films. In terms of execution from a film critic's standpoint, I would rank it:
1. Tokyo Drift
2. Fast Five
3. Fast and Furious
4. The Fast and the Furious
5. 2 Fast 2 Furious

How I would rank it based on the cars I saw and how they were used in each film:
1. Tokyo Drift
2. The Fast and the Furious
3. Fast Five
4. Fast and Furious
5. 2 Fast 2 Furious

How I woud rank the value each film adds to the franchise:
1. The Fast and the Furious
2. Fast and Furious
3. Fast Five
4. Tokyo Drift
5. 2 Fast 2 Furious

I've gotta disagree. People thinking FR-S fits the F&F demographic have their perceptions still stuck on parts 1-3. Parts 4 and 5 have been using more premium/high end hardly modified cars. Part 6 has exotics and many European cars with production for the last 3 months having taken place in Europe. To the general public, the FR-S would seem more out of place in Fast Six (though to me the FR-S and BRZ are still essentially the same car).

Part 4 didn't really have anything we hadn't seen before... the Charger and Chevelle had been since in the first one, and the R34 already made an appearance in the second one. Other than that, we saw an STI in action along with a G35, Mustang and Torino... not exactly "premium" or "high end." The NSX hardly had any noteworthy screen time, but Ludacris's character had an NSX in the second one (with an LV-esque paintjob that matched his pickup truck), though it ended up not being in the movie.

Part 5 moved more toward classic and/or muscle cars, though in the director's commentary, they wanted to use modern exotics for the train sequence (like a Mercedes SLR and a few others), but they said it would've increased their budget by too much... not to say that the GT40 isn't awesome. The 911 GT3 was a 996 (not a bad thing, but clearly not the newest thing out there either), while the hypercars like the LFA and CCX weren't really in any sequences worth replaying.

I've still never seen Memoirs of a Geisha because of this reason. Seeing Korean or Chinese play Japanese is just bad taste to me, personally. Plenty of actors and actresses that can play the roles that are actually the ethnicity they're portraying.

However, if the main point of the movie isn't about exploiting that main character's ethnicity and the actor doesn't match up, as in Han's case, I'm totally fine with it since it's just a popcorn movie. I call it "Titanic Mode". I just watch it to get what I need out of it for those few, key moments in the film.
I agree.
