It's certainly NOT going to be 2500 like some people are hoping.
It's anybody assumption at this point. We can just speculate and hope until they announce the specs.

LOL, I was saying that in a PM with someone earlier.

Volvo C30 is a good comparison it's a hothatch, almost same dimensions, 2+2 it fits me in the back very snugly, it's about 7" taller than the FT but imagine it a coupe with a fierce slope from b to c pillar like the FT, lets not forget at this point the FT is still has a trunk and not liftback, a 12 year old might have some issues back there and little room in the trunk..

*added the asians driving in the spy video were kinda small, you could see that when they got out of the car, and for the car being 50" tall, those guys looked small to the car. I'm a 190lb, 6'1" fellow.

Looks pretty good:

The took the MKIII NYS concept FRS and added the features of the prototype. That's why it looks so good, plus the front of the prototype looks great it's the horrid gummy bear, round, rear end that does not match the front sharp lines. BUT the camo could be hiding things in the rear, though doubtful.

Hmm.. wasn't there a white guy as the passenger? Will have to go back and check... but he looked to be around the 6' mark. I'll just be happy to have back seats again, and hope to not need them anytime soon.

Latest Celica 2425 lb (manual)
Current Tc 3060 lb (manual)

These are the closest related vehicles, although wrong wheel drive. Let's hope it falls somewhere in the middle...but I doubt it will.

Huh? So what? Sharing some chassis components doesn't mean all the other elements (larger body etc) work don't add up to make a big difference - they clearly do as the Miata is several hundred pounds lighter than the RX-8 despite that sharing.

Also the 1st gen Tiburon was a cheap sheet metal, plastics, very cheap overall everything you're talking about Hyundai like 15 years ago. And it didn't have RWD which add another 200lbs easily, AND it didn't need the same saftey features with 6+ airbags. Add that with bigger wheels and tires, heavier 6spd and you got over 2800+lbs easily.
You seem to conflate a cheap car with a light weight one for some reason... funny b/c cheaper cars use heavier not lighter materials for the engine, chassis etc. Sheet metal on the Tib is no different in thickness than any other standard vehicle. If you read my comment through you'd see I made a 150 lb allowance for updating to new safety standards when I stated that 2700 lbs might be doable. Forgot about the RWD weight penalty though - if it truly amounts to 200 lbs that will make a big difference.
