Hey guys, anyone local have a EcuTEK cable i can borrow for a Visconti tune? Feel like a cheapass asking, but frankly- im pretty broke and the wife will probably kick me out if i spend anymore money on the FRS lol. I probably wont buy a license/tune for a couple months anyways, but just seeing if anyone has one and they're ok with me borrowing it . I'll buy you beer, or dinner or something lol. I'm in White Rock but work in Burnaby, and drive all over the lower mainland on the regular.

ugh.. hit a cement block near a construction area near my house.. and it scratched my driver side rear rim pretty badly.. I have the insurance that covers wheels when I purchased the car, but they just might say its curbage and not a road hazard (dont know how they can tell the difference) and wont be covered.. anyways, anyone know a good place that will repair the damage in case its not covered?

I'm waiting on mine to come and have no problem setting you up once it does. I haven't heard much from John however so no clue when the gear will show up. I will be e-mailing him within 2 weeks time if nothing shows tho.

There another Vancouver member who has his cable already located DT @OjiGeorge. You can message him too if you like considering I don't see him posting too much.

If you're concerned ICBC wont believe you, try contacting the contracting company doing the work, and take pictures of the block you hit. Just get the company to acknowledge that they're doing work in the area, go into icbc with that and pictures and it will help your odds. Although, if you have to pay a deductible for the claim, idk if you'll really save anything.

In my old car i bent a rim in a construction zone- they had recently scraped the surface down about 1-2 inches, and didnt soften the edge comming out of the lower section... it was dark and i came up to the lip doing about 50km popped the bead off a tire, and bent it pretty good... I didn't have wheel coverage on insurance (didnt even know it existed tbh lol), and ended up just buying a new, lighter, set of wheels and tires :P

Thanks MrJay . Yea i was talkin to George a while back right when i got my FRS. It's not a big rush on my end, the wife is still SUPER pissed about the Nameless axleback (which should be here by the weekend!! )... So it'll be a while before im allowed to get anything else lol.

I hope to come out to some local events and meet the rest of the club guys in the lower mainland, finances have kept me out lately... Been pinching pennies so i can get a few parts here and there... The price we pay for things that we love right??

There is an article in "Automotive News" about this problem. Toyota says it is the ECU. It can develop a "handshake problem" - sorry, I do not know that that is and may have it wrong, but the problem is with the ECU. It needs a 'reflash'

The article is online at autoblog.com --- dated Oct 5.

Lets keep updating this one...

FLIPBOARD .... iPad

If you have the 'Flipboard' app on your iPad, there is a cool Scion feed. It is called 'Scion' which is quite active with lots of information.

This actually isnt through ICBC, but vehicle armour, that I purchased when I bought the Car (covers key fobs, door dings, tires and wheels, glass damage, and leather seats). I brought it into Subaru, and they will help me deal with the claim.. Hopefully something works out..

Make good use of that $299 you paid!...

On a more serious note; hope it gets fixed without having to burn your wallet...
