I made 1000% sure even to the extent of going to the panel shop that was doing my kit to do it the right way.
Haha cool, got any pics?

No problem. Yeah they have really gone through some effort on the high spec and the leather, etc definitely seems to be of high quality.

They've added some other bit & pieces as well - digital speedo with shift light & buzzer, LED daytime running lights, bi-xenon headlights, smart keyless entry with stop/start button, heated seats, 17" wheels, full size mag spare wheel, cruise control, dual zone climate control, vented discs front & rear, etc.

How they've managed to cram all of that into R30k is beyond me but I'm not complaining.

Sweet! All that's missing, I think, are some red brembo calipers showing through the rims. :-) nice ride.

I actually think the yanks get a std spec version of the frs... there is no high spec. That's why you see the red alacantra sholder inserts. (That's what I remember reading anyway.) They have to pay extra for leather seats and bigger rims etc. So in essence, we're a bit more fortunate than they are.

I do agree on the radio bull$hit though. We get a CRAP radio in ours when we should be getting a touchscreen display etc. I'm planning on replacing the unit hopefully soon. I'm not really a fan on replacing stock parts on my cars but I'll make an exception in this case. The radio is hideous.

Yep, the Scion FR-S is very basic and they don't even have fog lights.I think they do have the same 17" rims as ours though.

The radio we get is really is cr@p, I've already replaced mine with something better.

Great... What did you get? Who did the installation? Would love to see pics!

I'm just trying to find a unit I like for a decent price but most of the units are 180mm across instead of 200mm and need plastic fillers to cover the gaps.

I've done a LOT of research before having one installed. If you want a perfect fit then it's either something expensive from Toyota themselves or you have to go for a China radio such as Caska, stopshop.co.za, etc. It was a bit of a catch 22 because I wanted the OEM look but I didn't want a China radio so ended up with a Kenwood DDX-4038BTM and spacers.

The radio is a bit basic but it does have Bluetooth, Divx, etc and more importantly, it's got a physical volume knob and the face is not detachable, so no rattles.

I had it installed by Rivonia Sound & Security who supplied the spacers and wiring harness so none of the OEM wires were cut.

I'll find some pics quickly.

BTW
I've got a spare set of spacers and wiring harness(excluding the Lexus antenna adapter) I might be willing to sell. Ordered the stuff from the States but ended up having the radio installed before it arrived.

Will replacing the radio not void the warranty?

I doubt it, I've seen dealers sell them with the radios already replaced. Just get the harness adaptor then you don't need to cut any wires.

Besides, they can't just cancel a warranty, they'd have to prove that whatever you've done directly caused something else to break.
