+1, dude I'm 6' 2" and I can just barely fit in an NA Miata! The non-tilt steering wheel is murder!

lol that's some serious madness going on there. At 5'10" I'm like some kind of midget next to all you guys and in my old Miata I was still banging my knee on the steering column. You had to have mounted your seat on the floor to get away with that.

Foamectomy, lowered rails, smaller steering wheel, and yoga sometimes on the weekend.

You do what it takes to drive what you love.

Whoa. Sat in my friend's NA passenger seat and it didn't seem too bad, but a steering wheel would definitely make things worse, and I'm "only" 6'0".

Out of curiosity, does your smaller steering wheel still have an airbag, or is this a retarded question? Also, do you push on your steering wheel to help get out of the car? In my MR2 I do that and the steering column feels like it's going to snap under my weight...I also wish the steering wheel were smaller because my knees hit it :/

It does not have an airbag. If you want to replace your steering wheel with any car then you will be hard press to find one with an airbag. I also do not push down on the steering wheel. I just extend my right leg and swing it under. It is not all that bad. I am lucky to be built almost 50/50 legs and torso. As a fellow tall person I know you understand how important that can be to fit in clothes, cars, and well life.

Ah I see. Yes, leg/torso ratio... I have proportionally long legs, but I'm still in the normal range for height so typically there's no problem buying stuff, but it does cause problems sometimes. E.g. pants, because everything in this country is made for fatasses Bikes too since standardized frame sizes are meant for a slightly different torso to leg ratio, and as I found out recently, small cars -_- (doesn't stop me from wanting them though!)

I pretty much rely on the steering wheel as a support when getting out, especially with the medium high door sills (I know, an Elise is worse lol), it's hard to just put a leg out and stand. Hardest situation is getting out parked facing up a steep hill, while trying to get a bag out at the same time, that's when I feel like my steering column is going to give away. Never having been in a small car before, I'm pretty self-conscious regarding the time I take to get out of the car, and I feel like grabbing the steering wheel is the only way to get out equally as quickly as just hopping out of a tall SUV.

6'6" here. No issues in the FR-S I thrashed for 45 minutes prior to buying my BRZ. Are you sure you gents are in optimal driving positions? With your shoulder planted in the backrest your wrist should break over the top of the wheel. Your legs should never be able to lock either.

Is this right? I'll have to try it next time I climb into my car. What do you mean by legs should never be able to lock? I don't lock my knee when pushing the clutch but that's because I'm pushing with the top part of the foot, if I relax the foot then I should be able to lock my knee given my shoe doesn't catch something. I find that any closer than that my knee hits the steering wheel.

Also about the backrest, does that actually matter? From my limited experience different car seats can have radically different shapes. I have my seat leaned back all the way because that gives the best lumbar support but I definitely never lean my back all the way into it (causes a sore back very quickly, but I don't have an FRS/BRZ so I wouldn't be able to say for you folks who have one).

How in the world you guys fit in this car?!? I finally had the opportunity to sit in a BRZ this past weekend and I could not slide the seat back far enough to be comfortable. I'm just under 6'2" and 195lbs. I loved the way the seat hugged me and I "could manage" with the available leg room but its by no means roomy or comfortable to me. Definitely less room than an S2000 or Cayman.

And all this time people have been talking about how roomy this car is compared to an S2000!

I am disappoint
