That is true to a degree, but you gotta keep in mind that these entry level coilover manufacturers valve these shocks to suit a wide range of springrates because one specific shock cartridge will be used on several different vehicle applications. Plus there are only a handful of shock manufacturers that produce/private label coilovers for many companies out there, so it is highly likely that the "spec" valving you speak of is going to be off from shock to shock, not to mention the springrates are hardly ever really accurate either. This is why, from a performance standpoint i do not recommend these low end shocks because the valving and adjustments are never accurate.

I have had buddy club coilovers on my Type X and earlier Silvia, Both sets bought from new. Good quality and never had any issues, but as stated, spring rates are very firm and depending on the application, would require the springs being swapped out...especially for street.

Regardless of ride preference, quality kit

We are using 7k/7k on our RCE Tarmac 2 prototypes (custom KW V3) with 245 width Michelin pilot sport super cups for reference.

Hi Andrew. Quick question, will you guys be selling these RCE Tarmac 2s? Will they be cheaper than the KWs? I'm leaning towards no, lol.

Buddy club=Stance=Driftworks=HSD

They are all made by HSD in Korea. They all use the same piston valving for that particular spring rate but they all use the same piston. The pistons have digressive compression and somewhat linear rebound.

They are actually pretty well made compared to the stuff from Taiwana and China.

Very interesting info! Now we just need to see some track/street tests on these things...

I have built and sold several sets of these coilovers for other cars.

The nitrogen fill is welded shut at the factory on the inverted inserts. This means they will likely never leak. That's why I have seen sets with 150K miles on them. However this also means they are not really rebuild-able/revalve-able. You replace the whole insert.

I have seen the people attempt to drill and tap the top of the insert to do custom revalve but it's a pain.

Check out my review. I love them. I would say they definitely lean more towards the track aspect. If your looking for a damper that is track ready these are the set you want to go with. Personally my frs is my daily driver but I'm building it to be able to hit the track after work. There is no more dive upon braking no more sway during tight turns. Everything feels just right.
