Very cool video. I love the white gloves the engine assemblers use. Is that a coke bottle over the shifter when the robot lifts the engine up?

cool stuff.

I know when you build your own bmw they send you something like this except its for your actual car. They show the VIN# on the assembly line... pretty cool

I think a lot of the engine 'break-in' we're all concerned about happens way before we even get to touch the car..

awesome vid though, and I can totally see those japanese using some ice cream truck chime rather than an obnoxious beeping. I wonder which would drive you insane first!

Given all the assembly/design problems this platform has had already, I am surprised to see that the workers weren't intoxicated or half asleep while assembling the cars...

If you pay close attention, you can see that the line closer to the camera is for USDM and the the line further from the camera is for JDM/Europe/Aus/etc. markets from the clearance/marker lights.

Yup. I'm surprised they are producing them side-by-side. I figured they'd tool up for one region at a time.

Was a robot playing the Indiana Jones theme at the very end?

Happy icecream truck singing robots are very.... Japanese of them. In America we'd have blaring warning beeps I'm sure. Obnoxious beeps or obnoxious music. Take your pick, though over there if you accidentally get your extremities or limbs smashed at least you know the machine was happy as it did it.

"Hello, I'm Hitachi HL-445 Revision 4.3 Unit 5 and I've come all the way from Section 3 of the Drivetrain Finalization Assembly in order to deliver this powertrain to you and inadvertently smash your hand against the frame. Doodle doodle doo, doodle doodle do, doo doo dee dee doo..."

Also...have you ever seen and/or known anyone that works on unloading the cargo ships?? Here in Portland...where we get damn near every Subaru made, Toyota too I think. Anyhow, Ive known a few people that unload and they were telling me about how fast the cars are pulled off the ship. He said that every STi/WRX/Evo (and Most likely BRZ/FRS) is ran to about 6 Grand easily just for shits and giggles...and there is NO warming the car up either. Keys in the cars, get it in and Go. He was saying that when you buy a car and it has 3-10 miles on the odo?? My buddy said it was most likely the hardest 3-10 miles your car will ever see!! HA!!
