Do these just stick onto the original part or do these replace the pieces? I would consider getting the carbon fiber one

They stick, I think it's with 3M tape.

I saw someone on here did the same thing with the 3M vinyl and it worked out surprisingly well, he did the steering wheel trim, heater vents, and the shifter surround if I recall correctly.

I like this approach, done by doggy:

The faux carbon trim on the dash is just vinyl and comes off, in case anyone didn't know...

If you want a real carbon fiber overlay, you can get Hasepro Magical Carbon. Costs more though since it's from Japan.

Wow! Very nicely done, Doggy! Any chance I could pay you to do the same for mine?

I'm kind of curious what that piece would look like in silver carbon fiber..

Ussualy i finish CF up with 600grit. Sand down the form out with 150, then apply light coat with soft brush of resin over the piece - let it dry out and finish up with 600grit. After this - 2/3 coats of HS clear with spraygun. I do not count how much layers - just use my eyes to see if all surface is even

Here are 2 more pieces:
