I'm sure somebody could make a "washer" like flange to drop on the shifter rode and spin down the threads something to cover that shifter rod.. IN FACT I should have patended this idea already! FARK me!

Makes the girls want to touch your knob.

I had a few spare shift knobs around so I thought I would try them. Neither one is perfect though so I will not keep them on. Sorry these are crappy nighttime (with flash) cell pics.

old TRD shifter that came with the TRD shortshifter for my SW20 MR2.

I never put it on because it looked cheap, it's made of plastic or nylon or something like that, made to look like leather but it's not. Really lightweight and smaller than the stock knob by a fair margin. Sits really high on the BRZ shifter so the reverse lockout works fine, but I won't be using this. Besides mine's a BRZ not FR-S/86 so I can't rock the TRD.

Voodoo Pearl knob from my ZZW30 MR2.

Voodoo knobs were originally not available for Toyotas (the guy was a Miata fan and hated Toyotas), so it was kind of a small coup of sorts for a friend to get a small run of them made that fit on the MR2s. Of course now they're available for everything. But anyways this one when screwed all the way down, interferes with the reverse lockout. So this one won't work either.

I really like the WC Lathe Works titanium knob, but man that is expensive for a shift knob... feel like someone will smash the window just to take it. I will probably go ahead an order a new Voodoo knob (designed for the Subaru), I already know it will look and feel good and only cost half as much.

@PMok why don't use a Richbrook one?
Is quite similar..maybe a bit smaller?
They are quite cheap.

I just bought this for my Clio:

I had the titanium, not slanted one on the previous RS. It's lift for reverse, so the base is different:

hmmn even converting to US$ that is pretty cheap. But I've never heard of Richbrook here in the U.S. I'm worried that it might not be threaded to fit the Subaru? Do you know what the thread size is, it's 12x.1.25mm for the Subaru.

It's JDM so check with either Carson Toyota or Nigel on the vendor forums. Costs too much IMO but I liked it so eh.

Just got my STi Ti shift knob and I must say that I like it more than the stock one. it's good heft and it's slightly smaller so it fits between the thumb, index and middle finger nicely. Almost like an arcade ball top joystick.

The lift for reverse one doesn't have a thread.
You put in on and there a small screw drowned in the knob that push against the stick and stop everything. Works fine.
