And thanks back at you! I'm in this thread as an observer. I was going to get myself on a wait list until I noticed the growing pains this car is going through (should've expected it, in retrospect; what with the excitement of the first car of its kind in many years I sort of forgot :P). I can get all the hassles I want with my current cars, so now I'm waiting until they get it sorted. Everyone being forced into the role of guinea pig has my full empathy

I've opted to keep my car at home rather than let it be a guinea pig. Until I have more info...and know what is actually going to fix the issue I'd rather not have the car sitting at the dealership.

Preliminary work was done, and results (P0019) did not change.

Wow...the last 2 paragraphs really kinda make you wonder how big the issue might actually be or become...

"Subaru's Infante called the condition "extremely rare." However, the FT86club had more than 100 registered complaints. What's more, several members who have had the ECU reflashed or replaced said the fix didn't stop the problem from recurring, resulting in other engine fault codes and additional service lane visits.

Toyota and Subaru officials declined to say how many cars could be affected or how many complaints have been filed."

Thanks for posting. I emailed the author regarding my possible blown motor. The sooner this gets out there, the sooner we can hopefully get our cars fixed/replaced.

So I have a deposit on a Whiteout that should be here in a couple weeks, would I be wise to wait or grab it and hope for the best? It will be my only car and the first big trip it will make will be from Oregon to SLC area Utah...

Your taking a chance but the odds are pretty good you won't be affected. I am figuring the persantage of affected cars to be around 5-7%. It could be as low as 1-2%

I would say buy it!:happy0180:

There have been about 8000 cars sold so at this point Subaru's calling the condition "extremely rare" is accurate. All of us in this thread just drew the short straws.

That being said, this issue with for everyone who's parts have been replaced, new ECU code introduced, and are still having issues; the root cause is probably much more serious than Toyota/Subaru are letting on

Excellent work sir! This article is more accurate than the Joplnick one and the autonews.com site is a respected auto trade magazine. Soon the rest of the auto news outlets will pick up the story. The growing pressure against Toyota/Subaru will help our cause because they won't be able get by with band-aids (tossing ECU's and needless cam gear replacements at the problem); with the media's microscope focused on these cars we'll hopefully get to the bottom of root cause.

Again sir, well done! :happy0180:

Thats how I feel. I don't care about the good will effort it was more the attitude and tone of voice I got now that my car is "fixed".

My rep was off and they send me to some other guy who basiclly had the attitude of your car is fixed fuck off. I mentioned about having to go back for the TSB for the fuel pump and was given a song and dance about how the TSB doesnt mean my car has an issue bla bla bla. After he finished I said already had the dealership check and I need a new fuel pump. I then explained how my frustration was the fact it wasnt checked when it was sitting at the dealership and I had to go back and take more time out of my day for a new car to get it checked and yet again for an install.

The response from the rep was "Well the CEL / SL problem was fixed and you were put into a rental as far as the TSB goes as I told you it is not a performance issue and you can drive the car there is just a noise that you could go without fixing. Dealerships offer shuttle so you could just have them take you to the mall and not sit at the dealership. I don't see where the issue is.

Needless to say I gave him an earful
