Hmmm I noticed that the lights actually look decent from a 45* angle...gave me an idea. The red brake lights are a circle, the white lights are this quadrilateral shape, but there's that transition point on the bottom that's not smooth. If a little plastic was added there to make the outer case flow smoothly instead of have that angle...I think it would look awesome! Can someone PS it? :p I don't know how to use PS.
EDIT: Okay this is done in paint...I like the shape quite a bit, but it still looks kinda ugly. I guess it's the white lights. Red paint it is? ![]() EDIT2: So I think painting the lights red wouldn't be allowed since you still need white reversing lamps. If the white lights are LED though, you could put a red plate around the areas that don't have LEDs and have the LEDs stick through. If they're not LED, well...pricey conversion I guess :/ Last edited by serialk11r; 01-16-2012 at 05:22 AM. |

You're right, I'm just being stupid -_-
That brings up another concern then, what if you want a real diffuser? Those reverse lights would be in the way! I guess you could cut a hole for it. |

I did a little photoshopping of my own to see how the taillights would look with the chrome blacked out. I did something very similar (in real life) to the headlights of a buddy's bug eye WRX.

Me like! That's basically what I'm hoping for to be done by factory or aftermarked. I don't like the smoked glass, but want them to be dark! Thx for the PS, gives me an idea of how it might look. Nevertheless, I guess that the part for the turning lights will be a little bit darker too. |

If you look at some closeup photos of the rear, you will notice that the turn signals are a single amber light source (incandescent or LED, I can't really tell) behind some reflector thingies. The red light is a ring of LEDs as we know, behind a red circle enclosure thing, with chrome "tunnel" around it. The chrome reflects the red in a pretty cool way.
To create a homogeneous look I think the best thing to do would be remove the outer clear housing, pull off the amber light's reflecting optics behind it, and give it some transparent red paint. |
