Generally I agree...

...and let's be specific about the tolerances. I don't think it's the whole engine. The problem is somewhere in the head, the camshaft or both.

Cool, Thanks. I am right next to Morries in Minnetonka. I will probably go there for all of my service. I was just keeping an eye on if they have encountered this yet. I do have the cricket noise. I am waiting for the TSB to be posted before I go in.

Hope you get yours back soon!

I called Scion at least 8 times and each time I got disconnected after telling me to hold for another representative. I waited an hour and then called and got to another rep, not Clayton. I was informed part was shipping from Japan and they don't know when but it should be to the dealer by Friday. My anger is now centered around the fact that I never get correct information. Car will be ready this date, then this date, then this date, etc. I plan my life and work and kids around getting to the dealer that day (more than 30 min drive each way) all for nothing. Only to see the service guys tell me another reason the car isn't ready.
Write letters, create a paper trail, cc anyone and everyone that matters on the manufacturer and dealer side, they will start to pay attention to you then.

If they fix it and the cel comes back on I'm just gonna tell them to order it and call when it's in to fix it. I find it crap to have a car in the shop longer then you owned it and put more miles on the loaner then your brand new car!
I had a new ECU installed (811) AND the newest flash. This didn't resolve my issue. CEL popped up right after the dealer took it for a test drive.

So what is going on with your car now? Is it at the dealer?

Yes. They called to say they flashed my 811 ECU, but that it threw a CEL when they were test driving to confirm the fix. They said they need to check with Toyota, to determine what should be done next. So, my car is sitting at the dealer until they try some other fix.
