What were you driving, an SUV? I'm not complaining, and I do like the bulges, I think the hood is considerably higher than necessary though.

Ok so I don't have facts to back that up but it's a logical inference. I do remember reading several people noting the hood/engine bay of this car in particular gets unusually hot unusually fast. So much that they are trying to find ways to vent heat out, including Moto. If you had to run in the hot sun wearing a long sleeve shirt would you rather it be loose/baggy or a thermal? Heat management is not some farfetched idea that you just neglect; believe it or not it's a real engineering problem. A couple weeks ago I saw a Supra with a massive single snail shell strapped to the 2JZ. And paint that bubbled off the engine bay. You'd hope the engineers would find ways to address that on this car and one huge variable they'd use in the simulations is... the volume of ambient air in the engine bay.

Of the cars you listed, the S15 is the only one I have never owned nor driven (because Nissan treats its American customers like...never mind). So I can agree wi you: those other three were awfully low-slung (well, at least the NA and NB Miatas were). But it's like other people were saying: times have changed, and there's pedestrian safety laws to worry about. Considering what they had to work with, and what I know of such laws, it's a miracle this car got built at all. March of time, and progress, and all that. I think it's funny that so many people think the S2000 is so hardcore, because compared to my FD the one I drove felt like a little-old-lady's church going car. But then again, I know someone who owns a '67 Shelby GT-500 who felt the same exact way about my RX-7, so there ya go. I'm sure in ten or twenty years kids will look back on our 86's and think they were monstrous death-traps, because they had traction control you could disable, and only eight airbags, LOL... :happy0180: |

I wouldn't go so far as the 'don't make em like they used to' rant, although it's becoming true of engines.
I've never owned or even driven an S2000, you only ever see Soccer Mum's or Johhny Tran's in them over here. And here in Aussie land a Nissan customer is a grey haired businessman wanker in an Auto 370z. 90% of Nissan owners cars were privately imported from mid 90's to lates 00's.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you mr. jeremy. I don't think you're gonna be able to find a much better car in terms of styling and aesthetics for anywhere near that price range.

His conclusion isn't surprising at all given how much
(the FT86 has a lot of similarities). I look forward to Top Gear's televised FT86 review. Though it has a credibility problem (from being overly scripted, fake, staged, and misleading), it's the most fun and entertaining car show ever produced, and is even often insightful.

Someone thinks the FRS is TALL?
I posted this in another thread, but there is not much between the FRS and my MGB GT. How low do you want it to be? |

You are grasping at straws, my good friend. Lots, indeed, most of the high compression engines out there throw off a good deal of heat. You don't dissipate heat by building more space in the engine bay. You dissipate heat by ducting it out. There is space above the engine in this car because the engine sits low in the chassis. The engine sits low in the chassis for reasons that are already well-known. Conclsion: If you think the car is as pretty as your little sister, then I'm not going to change your mind. But, please, let's not talk about humps helping you "place" the car. It's an insult to you, to me, to the car, and, perhaps, to your little sister.
