I'm interested to know who you're actually referring to by "an Australian manufacturer" willing to make one.

What brands of exhaust manufacturers in Australia are you expecting to come to the party?

i know of Xforce and they're in the process of making one but aside from them and some other small unknown manufacturers... i think everything else is pretty much custom built to order??

Ahhh no i didnt... i wanted to get out to the JDMST meet but just got held up, was he testing the different JDM brands and the gains/losses?

I did see an intercooler "hiding" underneath the front bumper in some of the pics from the day though...

cant wait for him to release some details about it.

Lachute the best sounding so far for me. Would like noise specs but it's my pic atm.
Castle hill exhaust in Sydney will do one for you. They have already done one for the turbo vehicle. Not headers, but from there back.
There is a place in Qld as well who are developing headers for the car as well. And any exhaust shop can make an exhaust from the cat back no problem.

You know him don't you? I won't spill the beans on here, but knowing what he's done in the past should give you hints.

I'm not for one second knocking CHE, you'll get a great result there too.

Anyone willing to mass produce one locally I guess ! Any exhaust place can do the job, only thing is that it could be a hit/miss affair with the sort of sound you're expecting from a system change which will no doubt change with time & experience with these cars.

I know about CHP 86 Turbo & the fact that an exhaust change made very little diff to power output, but the car looks VERY interesting to say the least !

In reality its probably never going to happen that we are spoilt for choice with local suppliers... our market is small and there is a lack of exhaust manufacturers (as opposed to workshops) in Australia.

Is having a custom made one any more hit/miss than listening to a youtube clip and saying i like that sound. You arent going to get an idea of cabin drone or true exhaust note by hearing on youtube.

Personally i'd rather have an indepth chat with someone experienced about the sound i was trying to achieve with the car (ie no drone, or a raspy note) and have him recommend a solution.

I had my exhaust fabbed at a local exhaust shop for my 300zx and took it back a couple of times to sort out the drone and noise levels. Not the prettiest thing, but pretty servicable

I personally like the look and sound of the Borla exhaust so may go with that one when the time comes

Yep, have already got 2 recommended exhaust pros that could do that which I may pursue when the time comes, although I still would class it as hit & miss unless they have experience in creating something for the car at hand. Sound clips give a fair guide though and I will use them in order to pursue further investigation on the product.

A guy i used to work with owns an exhaust shop, they also have a few race cars, they are keen to make some hedders, if i go though with it they may make a few of them if you are keen (since you are also from Melb)

Whereabouts / who ? Cat back alone would be OK, was really only after a much improved sound but certainly could look at it, still not certain when car coming though

It will be a little while away before i get one made, ill keep you up to date on it, need to get my car there to make sure they can build it pretty easily.

I am getting a muffler delte made, so you can unbolt the rear muffler, put on this pipe which exits straight out.
from what i have been told its not overly loud, but more free-flowing..
I should have a price tomorrow. ill get one made and installed hopfully the weekend after if i am free.. if not ill be on holidays from the 29th so ill have plenty of time for getting it done and testing

The muffler delete is very loud. I tried driving it on the street (home and back between a two day race) and thought I'd be pulled over for sure. Quick and easy to swap at the track and makes a good bit of noise.

Cheers Fudd ! Spoke to a workmate who suggested perhaps just a free-flowing muffler could do the trick ! Will speak to at least 3 exhaust pros now about what can be achieved.

Here's a funny one for ya . . .

I emailed Glenroy Exhausts and asked whether they done any work on an 86/BRZ and their reply was . . . "what's an 86/BRZ?" . . . and I replied . . . "obviously not" !!!
