Both were the same price through pre-order. Neither charged for shipping.

My afe intake instructions had me remove the intake snorkel. Did yours not? Removing the ducting was a bit of a pain in the ass. and it looks like you used the rubber mounts for the bolts, the instructions said notin about it for me.

Removing the snorkel is a must for any aftermarket system. I thought it was understood so I didn't include it in the instructions. It's much easier with two people.

So, apparently I CAN hear the intake if I don't have my music on. Who would have thought? I'm going to do some GOPRO videos with the camera on the hood to see if I can get some good sound clips. I'll do one of the AIRAID system on my buddies car too.

fantastic write up and very thorough review based on fact rather than fiction.... I was just looking on the aFE Takeda website to order one and I noted that there is a dry system and an oiled system does this make a difference and in what conditions would you alter your decisions to get either system

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the oiled filters flow slightly more air?

Power/Drivability - Takeda
Appearance - Takeda
Installation Ease - Takeda
Sound - Right now AIRAID, but I'm doing a couple of videos comparing the two in the next few days, so this might change.

I recently installed the SRT header-back exhaust as well. Is there much of a difference in in-cabin sound of SRT+AFE vs SRT+stock intake? That puppy at the rear is pretty loud, and I'm wondering if you can even hear the difference (or if the difference is a negative experience)..

If you JUST installed it, it will over power the intake. My exhaust is well broken in and has toned down a bit in the loudness department. I can hear the intake and it's "sucking" sounds now.

The oiled system flows more, by a couple %. You can look at their normal drop-in filters to see what the difference is. The dry you can just wash when its dirty, the oiled one you need to re-oil at some point. Dry is easier to maintain.

Dry also helps prevent oil from getting on your MAF. So no risk of over oiling, and getting it dirty

I think they sent me a dry filter with an oil kit LOL. If I can confirm this, I'll just give the kit to someone local with an oiled filter version.
