My FR-S is fairly dirty now, doing over 1,500 miles in less than 2 days and going through Texas Panhandle and New Mexico rainstorms followed by Arizona and Utah dust... Arrived yesterday afternoon and took these this morning:

The view from the back patio...

I think this will be a nice vacation...

Running along side the Grand Canyon on 89A was really fun in the FR-S; the car is not under-powered at ~7-6000 ft altitude going downhill. Just downshift to a gear to get it to 5krpm and floor it and you'll hit the limiter quick when pulling passing maneuvers on the slower traffic. Had to give my dad a looooong lead in his Civic (5-spd '09 Ex Coupe) when we were passing the traffic because I'd be up on the civics backside before he got along side the vehicle being passed. Worked out good though because I could hang way back with a great vantage point and radio in when it was clear to pass (due to traffic and the limited passing areas) and still be able to pass with him. Not bad gas mileage either for keeping the stickiest level of street tires on it, using 5-W30 oil, and having 200+lbs of stuff in the car. Averaged 32.7 mpg on the last fill up in Flagstaff, AZ - driving with cruise control at 80 for most of the time... mileage keeps getting better and better.

Do yourselves a favor and ask them to see their shop FR-S racer. It is full-on race car. Full cage, gutted interior and slammed on KW suspension. If I remember correctly, it'll be raced in NASA or SCCA events.

Uh, wow. Wouldn't want to do that to my own car, even though the track life has become a part of me.

The roll cage is so well-done. The guy I talked to said the fabricator can install a cage without having to cut the door trim, like you see here. I forget what club specs this one was built to but it sounds like they went full-out so that they could attend as many different clubs' races as possible.

Reminds me... I need to stop by and pick up the schedule of tracks that they plan to hit.

been playing with the idea of setting up another big cruise with the s2k peeps. putting up here also to get a idea of anyone interested, weather is looking good, the problem is time at the moment.

the drive consists of "The Big 3" which are highways 335,336,337. it is very fun and a very scenic route. last time i rode on this road, i actually raised my car up to give myself better suspension travel, anybody who is going on (only speaking to the slammed people) would deff be a good idea to raise the car up. after raising my car up, I still scraped a little, so its a lot less "lowered car friendly" then lets say Lime Creek Road.

after looking at hotel prices they range anywhere from 70 bucks a night to 160 (for resorts), if everybody is on board with a no-frills hotel I would suggest something like La Quinta or Motel 6 since they're cheap. They're located in Boerne, Tx which is about an hour and half out of 335,336,337.

how does mid-late october sound to everbody? or even early november-ish.
