FR-S vs. E30 M3

Not that we're all not sick of the FR-S vs. (insert various xBrand product here) threads but I've been thinking about this one for awhile.

On paper the cars are VERY close to each other. The handling and "tossability" of the first gen M3's are legendary but everything I've ever read about the two cars are leading me to believe the GT 86/FR-S might be the reincarnation of this iconic BMW.

The E30 M3 is a car I have always wanted to drive and own. I am asking this as a legitimate question and I would like to get some comparison feedback from people who have actually DRIVEN both an E30 M3 and a FR-S.

The stats on the M3:

Engine: 2.4L inline 4 cylinder engine (naturally aspirated)
HP: 192 hp @ 6900 RPM
Tq: 170 lb/ft @ 4900 PRM
Curb Weight: 2,865 lb
Weight Distribution: 52% Front / 48% Rear
0-60mph: 6.9 sec (official) 7.1 sec (Road&Track, January 1988)

The stats on the FR-S:

Engine: 2.0L boxer 4 cylinder engine (naturally aspirated)
HP: 200 hp @ 7000 RPM
Tq: 151 lb/ft @ 6600 RPM
Curb Weight: 2,758 lb
Weight Distribution: 53% Front / 47% Rear
0-60mph: 7.2 sec (official) 6.1 sec (Motortrend, April 2012)

Weight distribution on the FR-S don't add up. Fix it and I will compare BRZ and the E30 M3.

Granted I'm a newbie to this forum, but I actually welcome the comparo threads; they help me decide if I *really* want to trade in the current toys for an FR-S. That said, E30 M3 enthusiasts would consider the very idea of comparisons to God's Chariot to be utter blasphemy ;-)

I believe the latest issue of EVO Magazine has a good review on the Toyota 86 against the E30 M3. Also the Integra Type R and Clio. Toyota 86 only got 4 stars while the rest got 5.

Since there is already a thread, no need for my opinion on the subject matter.

Great comparison, that other thread was a great read. I must say, this car being compared to the holy grail of BMW is pretty awesome. I don't think the FRS/BRZ has quite earned that kinda renown, but it will be interesting, very interesting to see how this FRS/BRZ evolves. I imagine Toyota and Subaru will both be adding more track ready versions at some point. I do think (hope) the FRS/BRZ will end up to be a classic drivers car, but only time will tell.

Unless I missed it, I didn't actually see your post in the other thread. I would actually like to hear your opinion on the subject (if you're willing).
