now that all of that's been resolved, i think it's clear that none of us know anything about using HID's for DRL's haha.

10K is almost as bad as yellow in color content and not as useful since fewer things on the road are blue, lights need to hover in the 4-5K range. OEM units are just above 4, 5K will be borderline blue.

NOTE: Color temperature is relative, when compared against a higher color temp. the initial will always be more red and against lower, more blue. The question is how much of the road can be seen with it. (45:27) forum disregards timing info.

As far as running lights, HIDs are going to permanently blind oncoming traffic when unshielded, there is not much difference between an HID bulb and arc welding hence they are rarely installed without a projector. In addition, most systems are not designed to reduce output so it would in effect be equivalent to constantly driving with ~3 high beams. In case high beam brightness is not of concern (read disclaimer), 7-10W LED bulbs can provide similar functionality as well as matched color temperature.
