Ah, thanks Matador!

Good point about BMW's multilink rear. Mine doesn't use a McPherson strut. Here's the only pic I can find of the 320si (touring car homologation spec) rear suspension. Maybe someone can find one from an unmodified 320si. At least on this one they replaced the strut on the five-link with a McPherson. Maybe that's all it takes.

As for the transmission comment, I was thinking of amateur racing.

Good stuff. Gotcha on the amateur bit. I don't think many amateur series adhere to S2000 rules though. Too $$$$

I was under the impression that BMW would sell you a race ready 320si for one or two hundred grand.

With a manual box? That complies to which set of regs?

***scratch that***

Got the info. And you are correct. 5 Speed, H pattern dog box. If you are an "amateur" going to spend that kind of scratch, might as well get the 6 spd sequential. Or have Toyota swap your 6 spd box for a 5 spd dogbox... either way, non-issue right?

Non-issue, exactly my point. I think the FR-S may have a future in Super 2000 touring. That was the original question, whether it fits into any racing series.

Good fantasy. Except for the no boobies part. That part sucks.

As for the FIA and 'rules' they can be surprisingly flexible if they feel it will grow the audience. There are complicated appeal and homologation processes. I actually downloaded the official rules for the FIA's WRC (including Super 2000) and think I sprained my brain. MUCH more complex than that Wiki would lead us to believe...

Drifting isn't racing. It's a motorsport, to be sure, but it isn't racing. It's kind of like the automotive equivalent of figure skating. I'd rather watch hockey, if you take my meaning.

So your saying you'd rather watch tackle racing where a puck is involved. I don't think you'll get that anywhere but in halo
