FWIW, this is the connects2 kit for the Toyota IQ from UK:

Hmm,, after removing the dashkit, noticed this as well, can't figure out the model# or anything... Like seriously, shouldn't be anything to hide, no?

@PrimeMotoring - hope you get back to me ASAP, and provide some resolution!

Here is what I sent to DekaMori as it as applies to anyone reading this thread

"Hey I spoke to Enfig about whats up with the part number being grinded off as I saw these on the Prelim kits (which you got both) and they will be like that due to the manufacturer they get it from. The kits are NOT Connects2 but its a possibility Connects2 is using the same manufacturer to make their kits.

As far as the fit goes with your specific radio you can send the kit back even if it is modified and give you a full refund. I want to make sure everyone is happy with the product we provide. I apologize for the late response as I along with the rest of the shop is down in Maryland for a show.

Mike"

Enfig had the product for me and I have been helping out with development for it. The part number grinding off thing may be on all the prelim kits as Enfig wants to protect their internal model number used with the manufacturer. They reassure me it is NOT a Connects2 kit however Connects2 may be using the same manufacturer for their kit. If anyone has or has not given me deposit on kit and has any more questions please put them up here and I'll keep an eye out and respond to them as quickly as possible.

By the way one thing I can recommend with this or ANY iso mounted kit is you can open up the hole a slight bit in one of the brackets so that it can bolt in a little bit more tilted to line up better. Some modifications may be required due to different radio styles, it is in its nature a tight fitting kit for aesthetic reasons.

Prime, can you provide a video of an actual unit bolted to the car already with the oem brackets, and then this kit sliding right ontop and snapping into place?

the issue i saw with it was, most aftermarket double din HUs, when bolted in place with the stock brackets, will protrude a certain amount, and how this kit sits, when located onto the oem bezel, to me at least from my experience is too deep to fit over the chasis extrusions of most DD headunits. if you get one with a super fat face, such as some alpines, this may work, but i really would like to see an actual video of a unit located via the brackets and then this being snapped into place.

the other thing i noticed was that if this kit was designed for the FR-S and not the IQ kit from UK, then they didnt do the tabs right because four or six of the tabs hit directly onto little tabs on the back of the bezel opening, preventing a perfect snap in of the kit, in order for this kit to snap in perfectly, the tabs needs to be spaced differently. but even after trimming of those tabs, the depth issue still remained.

as far as being a different design and origin than the connects2 IQ kit, i have a contact in the UK with connects2, i am sure we can figure it out, but it just looks really similar and in my experience with thousands of dash kits, i have yet to see two kits meant to be different look so similar. From my perspective, i dont think connects2 or enfig makes the kit, or owns the rights to this kit, i am fairly sure though, that hte connects2 kit was out quite a few months ago.

my main concern is whether or not this is the same kit as the IQ kit (be it connects2 or xxx or yyy brand)design. how does it differ from the IQ kit?

perhaps a side by side shot of the IQ kit with this kit for comparison purposes?

again, this is purely MY opinion in working with the kit, but really would like to see some more proof of the fitment, as if it can indeed work for other headunits with fixed face, then i would not hesitate to recommed it if the little bugs can be worked out...and infact use it in my future installs...but i would like to clarification for sure

b

Still no word on these things. I think I might rescind my payment and grab something else. It's clear these are backed up for some unknown reason.
