18" rims on a sports car...what are you thinking???

Please, posers, turn elsewhere, don't ruin this car too...

FYI, GC8 was running 4/2 pot calipers on 16" wheels. even GD series were running 4/2 Brembos on 17" without any problem. so why need 18" to "Ensure" brakes are in comfortably?

Lots of sports cars come factory with 18 inch wheels. You may not like it (I don't), but blame the companies that do this.

No, don't blame the company that uses those wheels. They are just trying to please the market. Blame MTV and their stupid SUV with oversize chromed wheels...

I don't think Porsche pays attention to MTV goers who can't afford their cars.

Simply for bigger rotors. It's not feasible since they will not used light forged wheels (the damn ISF ones are about $1200/wheel, lol)... but yea, I'm thinking in muscle more so than what will suffice in a light weight car.

Isn't it more cost effective to put a larger rotor with recycled calipers from the Toy/Sub bin? I just have a feeling it will be recycling the Scion tC/Celica brakes.

You can have 4 pot calipers in a 14" rim.

In a proper sports car you need little metal and much rubber on the wheel's profile. This gives the car more predictable handling and makes it better to drive it to the limit and beyond.

Also, who wants a sports car in which he will have to brake every time he sees a bump or hole in the road?
Anything above 16" will have a serious issue with ride quality.

Formula 1 cars have 13 inches...

I think either 16 or 17 will be fine as long as they give it a tall final drive.

I wouldn't be concerned with stock wheel height vs wheel width. It'd be nice to see some 16x8's or 17x9's on it stock. If they do 17x9s all the way around it'd be a pretty damn competitive autox car in a stock class, depending on the class. Sounds like it'd be in B-Stock along with the 370z,rx8,boxster s, and few others. The Soltice somes with 17x8s stock and ppl run 255 r-comps and there beginning to beat up on all the miata's in C-stock that 17x7s and 235 r-comps .

Looking forward to finding out more specs on this car!

If it wasn't a Toyota I would agree with you.

In the last MR2 though (also a lightweight car) they put 15".

I can bet 16" in the production nat. asp. version of the FT-86.

Maybe 17" for a higher spec'ed version.

I will if they put 19's on a hopeful TRD version like Hyundai did to the Track Genesis.
