And frankly, the skeptic in me thinks you're right. There are 13K members here....and just over 100 members with the issue. How many of those 13K members actually own a FRS/BRZ? If you calculate the percentage here based on actual owners and compare it to the over 100 people on the board reporting the problem....I'm *guessing* the problem is higher than what it might first appear. Also, since we're seeing at least one case where the new hard parts and new ECU didn't fix the problem.....I'm afraid this isn't a QC/Design issue of tolerance stack on hard parts and improper programming of the ECU but something that wasn't designed right in the first place and the "band-aide" of a new ECU and/or hard parts will simply mask the problem until there's enough wear on the hard parts to re-trigger the issue. However, that said....it's ALL CONJECTURE on my part. The truth is: Toyota and Subaru make quality products and they want this endeavor to succeed so I think they'll do everything they can to fix it and make it right. They also have some of the brightest automotive engineers in the market, and I'm sure they'll get this figured out eventually. I just hope it's soon. The longer they wait, the more bad press will build and the harder it will be to overcome. Selfishly, the longer it takes to find a fix, the more likely it is that my wife will just say screw it, and get an STI. (Not necessarily a bad thing either, but I think we both really want the BRZ). 2 cents, Sean |

I did test drove the car and despite its goo feel, make it ok to have to deal with CEL, idle, chirps,...ect
200-300 cars out of 800 is a lot. You act like there's no car better than the brz or FRS, sorry maybe for you it's the best you can get. |

Where did you come up with those numbers? There's just over 100 on this thread out of 13,800+ members. Sure a good number of members don't have the car, but also a good number of those 100 just joined the site because they have the issue. 7800 total brz/frs sold through August, and 100 known reports, these are the only factual numbers.

Update, dealer just informed me that ECU did not come in today, back ordered ETA next week. This is getting old and next week will be 30 days in the shop. I am seriously thinking about excersing my lemon rights if Scion doesn`t compensate enough. I already paid for car and all the other expenses(i.e. taxes and insurance coverage) and used it less than a week.

Yes, the list of cars you drive completely blow the brz/frs out of the water.

If you want a BRZ, don't jump into an STI just because of this problem. Totally different cars. I love the way it drives and the 2 door RWD sports car feel. I like it much much better than my previous WRX (non-STI) They will get it fixed at some point. I would definitely recommend waiting at this point though.

Seriously. What was up with that comment?
In another thread, some Porsche owner made the statement that if you bought an FR-S over a Cayman, you couldn't afford the Cayman to begin with. A lot of douches rolling through these boards... |

Just ask why would I, owning a 650+hp car want a 145whp car? Because it's a unique car, because every stop light I come to people comment on the car, because it's beautiful, because it's light and nimble. Not every car is purchased purely for power/performance

Some people are fuckin stoopid <---
They don't understand it ain't about the money, well for some of us, yes. But it all really comes down to appreciation, and enthusiasm for this car. I for one am not going to give up on our twins, they are great cars...just a couple of hiccups, no biggie. |
