Update: Dealer finally got the Toyota tech on site to flash the ECU. Code came right back. They FINALLY ordered an ECU and should be here within a week. What a waste of time to just now be ordering the ECU. This will put the car at over 5 straight weeks in the shop IF it is fixed next Wednesday as currently expected.

I font think it's just a matter of the new ecu but also the newest flash done on it.

Near the glovebox? This looks like it's in front of the strut.

You are correct I deleted that old image. It is behind the glovebox to the right. Here is a pic looking into the glovebox. You can see it through that tiny opening.

Sorry for any typos and short write up. I'm typing this from my phone.

My dealer has been really great to work with. They seem to really push hard to get things done quickly.

I just dropped it off and The service manager came right out and made a call immediately to Toyota corporate engineers. They are sending someone out immediately.

The service manager made it sound like Toyota has figured out the problem, but who knows what to believe.

The ECU (811) that I received is the latest one, however they have a new firmware version so all they need to do is flash it. So, I'm hoping a simple flash with my 811 ECU will do the trick.

Most likely will. Good luck. Try and get a firmware version from them.

WOW… you have to be a contortionist and stand on your head to even see the ECU… had to use a dental mirror to see around the bracket that it’s mounted in to see the last digit of the part number.

My VIN is 7080 with a build date of 7/12 and I’ve got the ‘811’ version of the ECU.

I’m at about 1250 miles and haven’t joined the CEL club yet… but this has me watching the tach every time that I’m idling.

Hopefully I can get by with just a flash as preventive maintenance once something official is released.

not to burst your bubble, but my build date was 07/12 with a VIN of 71XX.
My car threw a CEL at 25XX the first time and twice after.

UPDATE: purchased Sunday, 5 days later in shop for 22 days, had it for 2 days then went back they had it for 7 more days. In total they replaced cam gears, replaced 2 ECU's and a reflash on this last ECU, they also put on 100 miles on the car and in there words they weren't "easy on her." Car is a lemon in my state of TN now and asked Clayton from customer service and asked yes or no is scion telling me to go screw my self his response "yes" I will never at this point purchase another Toyota car ever again and do my very best have everyone i know do the same.

Can you re-post that in English?

I don't know if you initiate the lemon law through the dealer.

Sorry... I guess my VIN should have read 7080xx and I was just trying to establish a benchmark that cars built after that VIN / date probable already have the '811' ECU and may only require a 'flash' after Toyota/Subaru get this issue sorted out...

Update; called Tuesday and made a claim there soa. They said a rep would call by Wednesday. They never called so I called today and said he will call tomorrow. I then called the dealer and they said the ecu will be in by 10/11. They said they have it on immediate delivery. In all I would rather just give them the keys and have them keep the car. Knew I should have got the Sti instead.
