I can agree with some of the things he picked on but he still comes across with more attitude than is needed to write an objective article.
The thing that attracks me most to the FR-S is its style. I put sport cars into two categories. First category of sport cars is the Miata, MG, Fiat, Triumph, S2000, Austin Healy, etc. The second category of sport cars in my mind are what I call the exotics: Ferrari, Lamborghini, LFA, etc. The way I see it is we got a knock off of an exotic $375,000.00 LFA for $24,000.00. I couldn't be happier. |

I think you guys are all fan bois...I thought the article was quite fair,
Credit was given where due and he honestly didn't bring up anything with any negativity that he didn't validate... To be perfectly honest i think it is flattering that our little 25K shit boxes get compared to and held to standards for cars 2-3x the price...the fact that they spend the time to analyze the car in such depth should let you know they take the cars seriously... or you can all keep whining because everyone doesn't blindly love your car like you do. To Each His Own... |

Exactly, whenever reviewers start talking about how they think a car looks, I just skip it. It is totally opinionated and subjective. I mean, people are certainly welcome to their own opinions but what matters is that I like the way it looks. I mean, it's not the best looking car ever made but it's better looking than any other affordable new car out there in my opinion.
But I do agree that some of the panels not lining up looks a bit off. And I'm not a big fan of the fangs in front. I prefer rounder/smoother shapes vs sharp and pointy lines.

This review like most others I take with a grain of salt. Some reviews like this one are not so good while others are over the top. Somewhere in the middle lies the truth.
At the end of the day I'm still happy with the decision I made to get the car. Is it the greatest thing since sliced bread, no. Is it a POS, no. It never claimed to be some exotic super car which most of the reviews compare it to. It's just a fun sporty car that hoped to bring the fun back to driving, and there it succeeded very well as far as I'm concerned!

i think you guys are way too close to the subject matter
the car has flaws like every car out there the guy there has some experience in dissecting the aesthetics of various cars he has a column so writes about his opinion, an opinion that is no more valid than anyone elses and so we think he's a homosexual? very mature the guy is a doctor and has a fleet of supercars... he doesn't need to be piss farting with cheap $25k cars... a quick google shows you he's of Indian extraction (please make a joke about that) and that he's got a worthless medical degree from that community college called Harvard (obviously the average person here has more education and brings more gravitas than this guy) i like the 86 but it seems the typical owner here is bringing the class down a notch |

I just think he misses the point of this car, driving dynamics. I could care less what it looks like as long as it has a low coefficient of drag, the shape allows for the interior to be functional, and it's structurally sound. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2 |

I don't have the mag in front of me but his wrap up was something like, "most people will think the front of the FR-S looks better [than the BRZ]. They're wrong." ![]() and "the FR-S will be a boon to bodykit manufacturers." |

Presentation aside, the reviewer makes some fair points and more importantly there's plenty of praise salted in with the unnecessary and off-the-cuff griping about horizontally-opposed engines. I agree wholeheartedly that I wish Toyota would move past the hair-lip nose design they've rolled out. It's sad they felt the need to try and hint at it on the FR-S too. It's not as ugly as on the Camry/Corolla/Yaris, but it's still distracting.
Otherwise? Eh, to each one's own. |
