I purchased an MX-5 in March because I did not want to deal with 1st year issues. I did the right thing - I can wait out the CEL issue...

Because I need a house first. That and I don't want first pancake again. As much as I wish I could have been a First86er I don't want another first year model of a car again >.<

Because it's a Scion instead of a Toyota and in addition it lacks everything listed on the thread in my sig.
Since I know someone will say it, I won't go with the Subaru either. It has it's own differences that I don't like/want and the only dealership within a 2 hour drive has been fined and in court for so much BS it's not even funny, thus I will not buy from them. Edit: Also my local Toyota/Scion dealership refuses to order the parts in my sig even though I'm willing to pay for them and the install. I've emailed and written Toyota as well and they didn't help me either. They only fed me positioning statements saying that the Scion is being sold instead of the Toyota and never answered my question about getting the Toyota parts other than that. So screw Scion.

Because Toyota/Subaru is making them at laughable pace. I called 6 dealers today and none had any in stock or coming in. The order I placed this summer is still not at the port as I was promised it would be by yesterday. I have no clue when it's coming. This thing is more rare than porterhouse steak

Current FR-S: My plans are to use it, learn from it, and then trade up for the same car after 2-3 years... But no one can predict what's going to happen in the future, can they?

I don't have one right now because i'm currently financially crippled. Even my project Celica is on hiatus. When i get a new job and have money coming in, things will change. Also, i'll soon have no car payment anymore-- and i'm experiencing a ton of trepidation thinking about having one again.
I'm actually thinking about waiting for the Nur Spec kit to hit the shores, and then i'll wait for them to depreciate. I'm very frugal and i can't allow myself to pay $25,000 for a car. I could make a Challenge 944 Turbo for that. And hit the buffet, too.

Because 1) I want most, if not all the problems worked out, 2) I'm hoping for some minor upgrades for MY2014, 3) I'm waiting for more options like a real navigation system and fog lights, 4) I'm saving up so it'll be easier to pay for and 5) I don't really want it over the winter so April or May 2013 will be the perfect time for me to buy I think. Hopefully they'll have the MY2014 out by then.
