That statement was based on data from the factory about how many GT's were leaving the factory and how many "orders" there were for them in the country. It was estimated that after 2 months the backlog of GT's would be filled and new orders at that time would have been the third month along. That has since changed obviously as a higher proportion of GT orders have been placed. At current stage I believe wait times on NEW orders to be approx:
GT Manual = 4-6months
GT Auto = 1-3months
GTS Manual = 12-24months
GTS Auto = 6-18months

These quoted time frames are they post additional injection of supply ?

No, as there has been no communication of how this injection will affect wait times. I would hazard a guess that at approxmately only 180ish of each variant and the Aero Kit GTS models have to fit in there somewhere too, that GTS orders won't reduce significantly. Perhaps by end of october there should be more clarity on whether wait times will decrease, and maybe more information on the split of GTS Manuals vs everything else for the first quarter of 2013.

Mine just keeps getting pushed back and it's NOT a big city Dealer!

Just spoke to another largish high volume dealer who confirmed that the "extra allocation" may be coming !!! IE: this may be true after all . . . standby, early next week will be the telling factor.

Well, either it helps out standby times or I drop to a GT. At the moment mine's looking like a 2013 order. Honestly I was happy to wait but knowing that people who ordered -after- me are getting their cars -sooner-, even though I put a deposit down earlier, and Toyota's been making money on my money longer? That makes me really, really mad.

EDIT; And for the sakes of the folks in the thread? My dealer's there with me, I'm sure. I have nothing against the folks I ordered off at all! The dealership's been extremely helpful and they've been probing for more info more often than I've been calling them. Not mad at the dealer. Mad at the people supplying the dealer.

To my surprise there are quite a few who have confirmed Nov production mainly GTS manuals which is definitely a sign towards additional stock allocation.

I'm hopeful the extra allocation will help a fair bit for the outstanding orders . . . TMCA ordering system appears unfair?

It's probably fairer to the dealers (and the poor bloody salesmen who are waiting for their commissions) but it's not good at all for the customers.

If you're going to do an allocation system like this you really need to be able to tell the customer their exact spot in the queue as they put their money down. Even with dealer based allocations you should still be able to do a hell of a lot better than Toyota have.

I'm the fifth order at the dealership including pre-orders. I don't quite see how that can be fair to them exactly (so far they're up to 3 of 5 cars, according to a quick phonecall).

Long story short, FIFO would be fairer for everybody, including dealers and salespeople, because it means a lot less people would cancel.

I don't work at a dealership but I think you're probably missing a few points. In a FIFO model, this would heavily disadvantage rural dealers with fewer orders and probably later. Dealers are only paid upon delivery of the vehicle but they have up front costs e.g. demo, training staff, the sales staff salaries rental etc. Now if it was FIFO and there was 1000 city orders before theirs, they would not get paid for say 12 months. Imagine the viability of this business model (not very viable) and some dealers may simply chose to not sell this car which Toyota would not want.

Finally some good news!

Had my dealer ring me today to tell me November production / december delivery.
It was totally unexpected because two weeks ago he told me I wasn't going to get it until Feb/Mar (I was expecting June 2013 after all the things I have been reading on this forum)

I ordered Mid June and was 3rd in line out of a list of 20 orders. I take back all the bad things about Toyota, gotta love an unexpected win! Merry Christmas!
