What's with ragging on the Miata? It is hands down the best affordable sports car.

I agree...have driven both, would take an AW11 over a Miata any day in terms of driving enjoyment.

Not saying the miata isn't fun, it is. Just...AW11 is more fun.

Hmmm... For some reason, I don't think driving the FRS is going to help any of us guys get more macho points in the manly car contests. And I have a good feeling that there will be many female owners/drivers of this car. We have at least one potential on the boards now (Giccin ).

And to be honest I can't really fit in either lol I can drive both for a period of a day (short period) cus I'm not so good at contorting

I should be clear about the noobs comment. I mean that another thread about why scion is a good idea is not needed. It has been said and discussed to death, everyone has their own opinions, and the fact that it will be a scion will not affect the car itself, since it was designed to be a good car (hopefully)
But the fact is, I will be getting a Toyota, and noone is going to lable or marginalize me if I have it. Toyota is not a joke.
Scion is, due to the reputation it got because of the people (read majority of people, not all) that drive them. This might do for scion what impreza did for subi.. Who knows.. But it could also fail badly, leaving a posibility for this car to be scrapped..
Who cares? I don't.. There are pleanty of other options on the market. And if Toyota fucks up, Mazda, Nissan or mitsubishi will pick up the slack (hell even Honda if they make a fr again) and subaru will really profit in the end

I was thinking of in-production cars. The MR2 was glorious, especially in it's last iteration (MR-S). Hugely underrated car.

A light RWD Coupe makes you think it's going to have a lot of Female drivers? Couldn't disagree more. There will be very few Female drivers and those that do buy it can probably kick some ass on the track.

So calling people n00bs totally gets your point across in the most mature and intelligent way possible. Instead of steering them to one of the old threads just say n00b.

It's going to get discussed beyond death. At this point what else is there to talk about? Plus people on both sides are passionate about it.

I do find it funny that you can claim Toyota is not a Joke, but Scion is.... because of the perception of people that you think drive it? I guess the Miata must be a Joke too then. Because people view it as a Girly car even though the majority of people who bought it were Men? It always cracks me up when people are so narrow minded. Then they get their ass handed to them by one of these "girly" cars.

To be perfectly honest there are no other cars in the Market that this is going to fill. That's why people have such a hard time finding Cars to compare it too. There's the Genesis but that's been discussed to death, so surely that will bore you to the point of spouting off your opinion about it.

There's also no guarantee that anyone would fill the gap if this fails. Just because there's a niche in a Market that doesn't mean one of the OEM's are going to go rushing in to fill it. They only go rushing in to fill Niche's when they can make money doing it. If it's unprofitable for Toyota then we probably won't see this attempted by anyone for 5-10+ years. There's a reason we haven't seen a Car to fill in the Gap left by the MR2.

Affordable, attractive, small cars attract girls, few will disagree with that and you will find out you are wrong.

All of the future owners are going to have to accept that a car in the price range will attract tons of people that do not care about the enthusiast side of the car whatsoever, womenz included.

So do big SUV's. Down in the South it's big Trucks.

I realize there's going to be more people that don't care about the enthusiast side, most cars are like that. Yes, even women. So what?

Usually it's more about what's cool at the moment for what the High School girls want. If this gain some notoriety for being "cool" there might be more girls buying them. But I think this car will have the same average number of girls buying it as other Sports cars. Which is to say, not that many overall. A RWD Car with a 6 speed or Paddle Shifters isn't what the Casual driver wants. Sure it's cheap and attractive but most girls don't know how to drive a Stick. The vast majority want an Automatic, not Paddle Shifters, a true automatic.

If it doesn't have that, the prissy ones will no longer be interested.

I was under the impression that the paddle shifters were supposed to be more "stick like". Like the Tiptronic, sure it'll shift if you just floor it, but that's how it's supposed to work. You're supposed to do the shifting most of the time.

If that's how it is, Chicks won't like that.

MOST (not all) just want to hit the gas and go.
