Yep, this is correct - I think the name is "Samantha" if I'm not mistaken. Should say TTS in the description.

Glad to know a fix exists. Cause all I get is 'GPS Signal Lost' for the duration of my drives.

I do live in an area with a lot of trees so maybe that's why.

It is made by Fujitsu-Ten. I am not sure of the model number. It is the same model as Subaru used last year for some USA Foresters and Imprezas.

So I went to the dealer yesterday to have them check it and of course it worked fine when they checked it. Gonna go back today and see if they can do anything.

I am literally sitting at the dealer as I write this. It's been a long process, but it started with me filling out a "complaint" on Subaru USA (as recommended by this thread I think). I was then contacted by a customer support person, Desire. We've phoned/emailed back and forth for several weeks. During which time, she took info from me about how the NAV doesn't have a signal. Today, the Mazda field service guy is here and the "fix" is moving the physical location of the antenna. Currently it resides on top of the head unit itself. He is going to move it about 6" towards the passenger side. He showed me the before/after bracket. He claims all the layers of plastic due to the vents could be blocking the antenna from receiving a signal. He's also going to upgrade the firmware via a new SD card, I'm not sure which version. I'll try and find out.

Some other complaints I've had about this unit is the responsiveness of the actual touch screen. Maybe I'm just bad at hitting the buttons on the first try, but I feel like it's much more difficult to "push" a touch screen command compared to my Galaxy Nexus. Where's that Android head unit?

(this is my first post, be gentile)

I had the same problems and what sounds like the same fix from Subaru. I will tell you it's a huge improvement and I have not noticed the "searching for satellites" since they did it. I suppose they could have removed this with the new firmware though.

The touch screen is a little annoying. It makes me wish there were buttons on the steering wheel.

Yeah. I literally hit the spot on the steering wheel where my controls used to be. I keep hearing rumors about an Impreza steering wheel swap...

They didn't remove the "searching for satellites" because I have seen it pop up for a second. It looks different, and I don't know what happens when you press it now- because my unit always locks the signal before I can get my finger to the screen.

Touch screens are a lazy way to avoid dedicated buttons. The BRZ one is picky about hitting the spot exactly: perfect for a driver that wants to keep an eye on the road <sarcasm>.

do you have any reference number or code for this fix. I went to the dealer yesterday for the 300 mile oil change and asked them about the fix and they looked at me like I had a penis growing out of my forehead. they did a look in the system and said they couldn't find anything and that Subaru was on the east coast and closed so they couldn't call and asked me to find a TSB number or something to reference so they could look into performing the FIX on the NAV. any help would be great so i can get the Nav working better thanks.

If I'm not mistaken there is no tsb yet. I'm guessing its just a quick fix for now until they find a permanent fix.

i was just wondering if there was something to tell the dealers to do the quick fix, cause my dealer will not do anything unless i can point them in the direction of something in writing or a person to talk too..

try calling 1-800-SUBARU3 and tell them your dealer did not know about the fix but you read online that there is one.

Just talked to SOA rep. This is what you need to do. Call XM and tell the rep this code: SUB300-AT. This will activate the trial for BOTH sat radio and traffic for whatever trial term we're supposed to get. Call XM with your radio ID. Get this by going to your radio, then Sat radio and then dial to station 0. I'll be calling as soon as I get some free time. Good luck.
