Jimmy Mac is correct, with the 17x9 the face is the same (flat, much better looking that the x8) so they just add more material to the backing pad.

Another note added, on top of what I said, is that it's cheaper to manufacture the way I'm talking about. You make one 9" wheel, then alter the offset by shaving off the backing pad (as D1cker put it) to the correct size/offset. Then drill the holes for the lug pattern. So, you make one wheel... say a 17x9. Then shave the back off to make a +35mm offset wheel, and a +45mm offset wheel, and a +22mm offset. Next, drill that 17x9 wheel with a 5x100 pattern. Next, drill the other wheels 5x114.3 pattern.

A 17x9" with +45mm offset is 15.65lbs. A +22mm offset is 16.35lbs. This is off their website.

@JimmyMac thanks for that info, i thought the way that these rims concaved was based on offset, but after searching up the 8" and 8.5" they still concaved out which im not really a fan of. so i guess 9" is the width to go with these

They'll make them in 17x10 +38 if you order 10 sets.

How is front brake clearance with these? How far are the spokes from the caliper? Wondering if they will fit AP Racing's BBK...

To have concave, you need a 9" wheel. As for the stretch, some is okay, maybe 235. But 225 might be pushing it on a 9" wheel. It will also affect the handling. The stretched tire will have a more direct feel since it will not flex as much as it would on a narrower wheel. This may be okay on the street. But on a track, if the traction is high enough, it could cause some problems. On the street you need to worry about curbs with a stretched tire since the wheels are exposed.

Basically, if you are going to track the car, do it right with the correct size tires. If not, stretching it a little will not hurt. My plan is for 17x9 +45 with 245/40 tires. With this wheel and the right tire, I can still keep it under stock weight and have the correct roll out/diameter for gearing.
It's also possible to have some sort of concave even on OEM size or any width below 9" for the matter, long as offset is also reduced and the spokes are designed for concavity.

Love these wheels! Would like to see a more functional tire setup.

Right, however this is in relation to the thread about RPF1s. But it's a good valid point to bring up about wheels in general.

This.

That's quite possibly *the* perfect, real world functional wheel for this car.

Looks good too.
