My fears were just reinforced. Car was supposed to be ready today, service advisor was supposed to take car home, return today and call me to pick up the car. I arranged my schedule to allow for this. Instead, I had to call, turns out it threw another code regarding exhaust valve timing. Advisor never took it home, never called me to let me know. I went by the dealer to see how things were going. I talked to the tech working on the car. Very nice guy, lots of experience but absolutely zero on a boxer engine. Never been to training. He feels that the engine will throw another code. Car will sit all weekend waiting for the RTV to dry that holds timing cover on. He described his mistake putting the exhaust gear on wrong. He is worried about the cover holding or the RTV blocking any oil passages. I also saw two small paint chips right at the front of the car on the leading edges on the lowest section. They told me they were already there. Not true. Tech went on to say that the ECU reflash is going to be the answer, but they can't do it. ECU replacement would work in his words. Therefore, my natural question was, You have this on order? Of course they don't. This was the second time I have asked them specifically and they still don't have it on order. Car has been at the dealer 3.5 weeks now.

What to do now? I guess I wait until Monday for them to call me maybe

VVTI Gear.

I know the car "should" be fine to drive but was not taking the chance that they were wrong on what the issue is.

Sorry to hear. You might be able to get it to qualify as a lemon at this point. Good luck with everything.

Ohio lemon law is clear about 30 days total repair in first twelve months. I can't imagine it will be hard to surpass 30 days seeing how it will be 27 days on Monday.

8 different repair attempts.
3 attempts at the same problem.
1 attempt at something that is dangerous.
30 days total in shop time.

My car has been in the shop since the day I purchased it with CEL/trac light. They replaced the VVTI gear and ECU twice with no success. On the 30th day I called SoA and they agreed to buy my car back.

What was the first "fix" for? Cam sensors weren't troubleshooted first?

I've been waiting weeks for gaskets. I'm going to loose it if they don't arrive on time this Monday.

Ouch, now you have me worried. I was hoping the ECU would be the fix.

Is this happening to all the "fixed" ones also? and has anyone gotten in touch with Subaru HQ? have they said they're gonna compensate us or what? I cant get a fucking answer from Servco Honolulu or Subaru Corp. Someones gotta have some answers...
This person in THIS POST got his CEL fixed the same day he dropped off his car. I'm thinking both you and he dropped the car off at the same Servco location at Mapunapuna. I'm wondering how yours is different from his.

it was a huge list that came out to be 5k (pretty much cams/sensors/etc)= I'll post the list tomorrow when I'm home) they also had to order $600 tools before they could even work on it. I also have to repaint my bumper (thanks to fail towing company) so I'm having that done while new cam sensors are being sent in

Thanks for that, but I won't join Facebook or any other social networking site. Call me an old curmudgeon, but I'm not a fan of spreading personal info if not needed.

That said, along with a considerable number of intelligent and mature posters on this forum, we have been able to amass a good deal of data that has been very useful. I'm not sure I see any advantage to using Facebook or any other social site outside of this forum.
