There is no reason why an oil change would affect the HPFP.

I agree. But since it was posted, and since I wanted to do an oil change anyway, I thought I'd chime in.

Switched to 76 91 Oct today. Been using Chevron 91 Oct since new. The crickets are much quieter. They were LOUD lately. Now they are almost unnoticeable.

Seems that gas type does affect it. I have no idea how much ethanol is in either variant though...they only publish that it "may contain up to 10%" at both stations.

What kind of noises? Could you make a video and post it on YouTube?

Hard to do as it's one of those "only happens sometimes" things. Two things occur:

1. Sounds like someone stuck a baseball card in their bicycle spokes when slowing down for a red light. It's VERY noticeable and almost like a gear grinding noise but more rhythmic.

2. Occasionally at stop lights, it sounds like someone is boiling a pot of water. Engine temp is fine for what it's worth and it's different than the typical DI noise.

FYI I tried Marvel Mystery Oil as a remedy to the crickets. I treated two fill-ups of E10 gas with it and though it helped somewhat the crickets never did completely go away. I added about 3oz to a full tank; most likely adding more would have completely got rid of them but I don't want to over do it with the oil.

Appears we're not alone. From the thread:

This is a noisy car and I'm basically ok with it IF it is perfectly "normal" and ok (safe) for these cars to make these noises. I would really like the chirping to go away though.
