As far as I know, what was in the July Fastrack was a recommendation out for member comment.

The Z0K Solstice and MS-R MX-5 are trunk-kit cars. Not many people think the FRZ is competitive with them in CS.

Word is the championship car was making 188 hp and 165 torque at the wheels. With an E85 tune and the allowed mods, the 86 should be able to top that HP pretty easily and have similar torque in a much lighter, smaller car.

Not legal for stock class. You can improve power by catback and air filter basically.

I'm weary of tuning with E85. Very inconvenient.

I don't think the move of the MSR and Z0K is a done deal yet and may still happen. The one 370Z I believe had the fastest or second fastest run on one of the days. I still plan on sticking with CS and if it's not competitive in any way there is always STX.

I'll do RTR myself with it but STX is alluring mainly because I could add power and lower this thing that needs both. However, with the 12 month rule, I'm going to sit it out and see what happens at Nats next year.

Visconti should have a map-switching update int he next couple of weeks, so you could fill up on E85 for an event and switch right there at the gas station, run your event, and switch back at the next fillup. That sounds pretty darn convenient.

I wish they'd ban E85...but I know that doesn't make me popular.

sooo Realistically .... What are we really looking at for power??? a truly prepped 86.. will maybe put down maybe 190 ish hp and 170 torque??
I got beat by 325 by over a second and half at a divisional ...despite the weight advantage I had. guess we will see..

Unfortunately, if it wasn't in this month's Fastrack, then we have to wait until at least 2014 for the CS switcheroo to take effect.

Kind of a bummer actually, because CS has been hurting for numbers since the trunk kit cars arrived. Leaving them there and classing the FRS/BRZ in STX is only going to continue that trend as STX is now unquestionably the best class to run the car in.

It's not switching the map that's the issue. It's switching a tank from gas to E85 that is super inconvenient. You'd have to arrive at the event on fumes. Then fill it up with E85 from a can. Or you could run on E85 all the time, but even around DC, the stations are few and far between.

I'm OK with it being legal - it is technically "pump gas". I just hope that it is not a necessary modification for this car in STX.

edit - read your post again. Either way, having multiple fuels is a PITA.

Thats the problem here. There is literally two pumps in this northern half our state. It doesn't really make it a realistic option for a street car. It's a moot point.

I'm curious to see if those large E85 gains are safe for autox and common numbers or an extreme example.

The subject of this thread is STX, for which an E85 tune is legal.

The Visconti E85 tune made 187/147 on an otherwise bone stock car. I think over 200whp is very realistic. Torque will be hard to come by though, so the 325 will probably keep its advantage there but not by much.
