Or something.

Except the Zelas is the international version of the tC, and it has the same exact interior. When have Scion interiors been cheaper than their Toyota counterparts (hint: they're the same)?

The Avensis comparison is correct. Avensis begot the twins tC and Zelas.

I believe that's how the tC gets to be allowed to drift, the Avensis has an AWD option, so the tC is an 'AWD to RWD conversion'... (Again, I've got to keep a facepalm pic handy...)

I still don't see how Avensis is relevant though, since we're talking about interiors and not chassis (and with respect to interiors, Zelas is the counterpart to TC). Plus, the FR-S will likely be at higher pricepoint than the TC/Zelas, so who knows what the interior quality will be like.

Interior quality probably depend more upon cost-cutting, global positioning rather than how it has a Scion vs a Toyota badge.

I believe the thinking is that the first gen tC is a 'Scionization' of an Avensis turned into a coupe.

As for me, my cars are late 80s and mid 90s, so I don't really 'get' this interior quality issue. Anything I sit in will be ZOMGWTFBBQ, compared to what I'm in now...

I bet a good portion of us are going to rip out the interior panels anyway for weight savings.

I love the aggressive bulkiness. Looks like a fighter, throw on that wing from the ring and your ready to flyyy.

Looks okay. I'm not sold on the center console but might like it once unveiled. I see some red stitching on the door (to match the steering wheel?) so that might look pretty nice. I kinda like the shift knob too, which is usually one of the first things I change in my cars. Can't wait to see more.
