I think a spare tire sub box would go over well.

Whereas I'd like to see one that allows the tweeter to protrude at an angle, but behind a grille.

I'll echo the request for an 8" enclosure with an area where a small (approx 12"x12") D-class amp could attach. Similar to the OEM Audio Plus setup, bit with the amp visible; for ease of wiring and setup.

That would be cool too there are just so many different tweeter sizes.

THIS! If I don't do the subs in the spare tire area, I'd like to try this.

Does anybody know the depth behind the rear side panels?

I'd have popped off the panels myself and measured *if* I had my car... But, I understand there's a lot of room, so a low profile 8" would probably fit since they have typical mounting depth for surface mounting is less than 3". The only thing I'd be worried about is hunting down vibes and rattles...

Here's a list from sonic:
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/cat_f...low-mount.html

Most of the specs show cutouts of about 7 1/4, mounting depth less than 3", and sealed enclosure between 0.15-0.6 cu ft. (the kicker CVT8(X) is deeper and needs a larger volume, possibly too much). I personally like the look of the Pioneer TS-SW84, reviews seem very positive.

I envision a small bladder shaped box (maybe squared edges for ease of fabrication), about 1/4 cu ft total. Possibly adjustable mounting tabs to ensure good fitment to hard points. Maybe a foam backer pad if it touches the outer skin, and a few tiles of CLD for vibe damping. This bladder has a cutout for an 8" sub, (or a specific one or two models are preselected and sold with the kit to guarantee fit). Use a template to mark the interior panel, cut out the marked 8" hole (or sell a pre-cut panel with the kit). A new grille mounts to the surface of the interior panel and secures to the enclosure, sandwiching the interior panel to make a more solid fit. Getting the shape to fit cleanly against the backside of the interior panel would be the toughest part to design.

I's be glad to give some ideas on how I'd approach fabrication. (Assuming it will fit, that is)...

We have the FRS here for the week.

Gauge pods and 8" subwoofer enclosure for the trunk seem to be the most popular demands.

The 8" sub boxes for replacing the rear speakers would be amazing. also a dash pod for speakers to fit properly. gauges would be a great thing aswell
