Yes, many american women are obese, but a 180 lb 5' 11'' woman is not overweight. Though ideal BMI is often listed as 18.5 to 25, the US National Institute of Health lists a BMI of under 27.3 as not overweight for women.

OK, so she should be a little more toned- but that wouldn't necessarily change her weight. I still think she looks much better than the anorexic skeletons (like the girl on the right below) that pass for supermodels these days.

I wholeheartedly agree with you on that. I'd rather have a women with a little meat on her bones. I don't know where people get the anorexic skeletons for supermodels because the super models I've seen are kinda slim figured like: Gisele Bündchen, Adriana Lima, any woman in the Victoria Secret Catalog or on Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition (Brooklyn Decker).

It's awesome that your wife stayed slim after having two kids. It's okay if a woman gains a little weight while pregnant but if she exceeds a certain weight relative to her height & muscle mass that affects her physical beauty, IMO that's a turn off. Visual example:

you cant use BMI, it's completely useless. BMI looks at height + weight, nothing else. i was considered "overweight" when i entered basic training. i had 6% body fat.

if i see a girl who has issues maintaining her body fat %, it hints to me that she may possibly be:
1) too mentally weak to stick to a diet plan
2) too mentally weak to get through a worthwhile workout routine
3) emotional eater (emotionally weak perhaps?)
4) she just doesnt give a care

its more than just physical appearance. it shows their mindset.
