Thanks bro. I had no idea. I thought all of the scoobs in GT were RWD at this point.

Shows how much I keep up with it.

I don't care how much i get flamed on the streets or on forums for ricing out the car with no engine mods or anything, I want my FRS to look like the GT300 BRZ minus the stickers.

That would be an awfully loud noise generator... My guess is it is some kind of fresh air system.

Even weirder to me in that picture is there is a LCD screen in the middle and then a second digital dash on the left hand side of the car. Along with what looks like a mechanical watch near the LCD?

A lot of endurance racing sanctioning bodies mandate AC in the cars as a safety measure. ALMS does as well as WEC

Yea those GT300 cars are pretty far from the original car they're "based" upon. Look at the GT300 CR-Z... starts out as a strut/torsion beam FWD hybrid and ends up as a monster double-wishbone all around RWD hybrid lol.

The GT300 BRZ doesn't even seem to use the BRZ's chassis as the suspension is completely different with pushrod double wishbones all around. I'd say the engine and the "shape" are the only things that resemble the original BRZ...

Speedbumps.
Ramps into parking lots.

Toronto's lovely textured pavement (if you're from T.O).

Snow.

I think they're required to start with the original chassis. If you look at the pics, the thing has been tubbed front and rear to fit the massive wheels/tires and in the process they murdered the stock strut towers. With the stock mounting locations gone anyway there's no reason for them NOT to move to a double wishbone pushrod system if it's a performance increasing modification. Especially with the engine and everything pushed so far back in the front there's tons of room up there for suspension.

In the rear, there's no need for a trunk or rear seats so they can cut the floor up as much as they want and have a nice fat pumpkin mounted in a tubular steel subframe that's integrated with the car's cage making power transfer more efficient. Again, given the high degree of modification, no reason not to move to the pushrod double-a setup.

Let's face it. Multilink and McPherson systems are both great for street cars where cost and packaging are a concern. When setup correctly, they can do a stunning job (Porsche 911, M3, heck, you could throw the 86 into that list. ) but for a pure racing machine it's hard to beat the adjustability, range of usable travel without adverse camber effects, and predictability of a nice double wishbone setup.
