This car appears doomed, at least in the short term. There seems to be problems everywhere. Could this be the REAL reason why our orders are constantly getting delayed?

I think that's the case too. Maybe it's fixing the faults on the spot as they build each batch of 86/BRZ.

Speaking about BRZ, never heard any issues from them yet. i'm assuming they might have the same issue.

My engine is fine, haven't notices any misfires yet. I'll do a scan over the weekends. I have diagnostic tools on my laptop.

for the last dot point; If engine does not fault, quickly free rev the engine greater then 5,000rpms....

Is that safe to rev that high while in (P) on Auto, i thought revving that high is bad for the engine or was it transmission? I'm just assuming, i think i remember someone telling me it's not good to rev too high on an auto, unless you're driving.

i'd think just a quick rev for a few times shouldn't hurt.

i did 3 times in my manual and let it settled to idle and it settled quite nicely. nothing rough at all.

Not always.

Sometimes I can push the engine hard and it'll still idle fine. Other times it'll feel like the car is jerking left and right every 5-10 seconds.

No out of the ordinary lights.

It happens with both Caltex 98 and Shell 98. (I've only put 98 in the car)

I guess I'll let the dealer know when I go for my 1 month inspection.

I wonder if other Subarus have this problem since the bulk of that engine like sensors etc is theirs. Toyota seems to have only developed the D4-S injection, which could also be suspect. Either way having 2 manufacturers on the case with all these problems will no doubt have these issues resolved quicker than normal time.

With only a handful of BRZ's in the country, you'll hardly hear a peep from them. By the time more BRZ stock arrives, all these issues would have been fixed & in production.

This kind of problem and procedure described above sounds a lot like the testing that should have been done way before the 86 is released to mass production. Something like engine RPM idling issues sounds like it should have been caught if field testing have been done properly and extensively?!
