I don't actually like the looks of this....

Wheel offsets are all wrong, and the design of the body is very....rounded.

It's not very angular, the head and tail-lights don't look to have much character, the greenhouse is bulbous and there's something funny about where it meets the rear quarters of the car....possibly caused by the rear side window shape.

*edit*

The photos of the one wearing a TRD style body-kit look decent. Looks VERY much like a 9th Gen Celica to me with that kit on there. Here's hoping that damned camo is more effective at hiding body-lines than I give it credit for though. And holy shiz, fix the wheel offset!

Buy another set of wheels? Or add 10mm spacers?

That car does not have regular plates and is also lacking tags. From what I can tell the plate says "MFR" or "MFG," (but I'm on a crappy netbook,) which would be "Manufacturer" plates. Given this plus the Gs tennis ball, I would wager this is the Subaru version. I would be surprised if Toyota could/would purchase or borrow a STi for testing when it has been using other Toyota vehicles for comparison in Europe.

In any case it doesn't matter. I just want to see the production model, the specs, and a pair of keys in my hand.

PS Toyota is the largest shareholder of Fuji Heavy (16.55%) but does not own a majority of the company.
I agree with you BUT Toyota could buy a GTR and test with that if they wanted, they have the money to use anything.

Like previously stated from someone, it's not a random STi that had a special plate, this pic below shows it again in back of it.

I wonder what type of Automatic is in that Subie, I mean Paddles are clearly visible. Im surprised it's not a Manual Prototype. 6AT is confirmed for Scion's version. Any Chance the Subie is different? Crossing fingers for a Mitsubishi SST fighter.

If I had to guess, by the direction they have been going lately it might be the CVT the impreza is getting for 2012, but im much more concerned about the 6spd standard.

I doubt you'll see a CVT in this car...

A CVT is not likely considering the VP said the transmission will be a 6spd, but it could be an option perhaps in later production versions.

But that's SCION's VP we're talking about the Subaru, It's a joint venture but it's still 2 separate entities.Subaru hasn't commented on it's transmissions. It's higly likely there's a 6 spd by Aisin, but that Auto what could it be ;/?

Depending on how the bodywork is done, that might mean rolling the insides of the arches....which isn't a big deal but kind of a pain just to get a vehicle to look normal in the first place.

Plus, then it has to be re-aligned, since a change in track will effect the way the suspension geometry behaves.

Long story short: The vehicle's stance is jacked in it's current iteration.

I guess we can't rule out the possibility, seeing that Subaru is including some in their lineup. They did say the point of this car was about feel and driver involvement, and a CVT removes all of that by letting the computer pick the best gear ratio (it does do a better job), which seems to go against the original philosophy. CVTs also have higher frictional loss, and this would be a problem for a car that people are already complaining about being underpowered. On the other hand this is the A/T model and people might not give a crap

The thing about a regular A/T that is nice is it's very easy to allow the user to override the gear selection, and even clutch lockup. If done right, it can feel close to a fast shifting SMG.

OK, enough of this who has better info and who is right or wrong. Until it comes out officially from Toyota or Subaru, or unless any source wants to divulge their full name and title with Toyota/Subaru along with their info on these cars, it's all speculation.

It's fine and fun to discuss speculations and rumors (and who said what), but if anyone's agenda here is only to discredit or make certain member(s) look bad, then that is trolling or trying to provoke/incite argument. And that WILL NOT be tolerated.
