My 08 Z has around 45k. 40k was put on in in the first 2 years driving all over hell for work. I've put less than 400 miles on it this year though so hopefully the mileage and value will balance out next year.

The CR-Z is nice for what it is, a sporty FWD hybrid but the difference is an ocean apart.

You know that the FR-S/Subaru will be N/A and have 230PS(225BHP) max right?
..... Your saying what I'm saying....

Yes I know that, what does that matter?

Nothing so long as you get why people who care about FE would still want to buy this car .

Naw he's not, low cost of running fits into the low cost nature of this car. People with more money are more likely to be exploring more expensive options, which if they like, they will go for. There's nothing wrong with wanting a low budget car that's got a bit of sportiness in it, and that's exactly the market the FT is trying to fill. Some people will care more, some will care less, but at this price point people do care about cost!

Hello all,
My honda prelude 98 have 317k miles still run so smooth just like brand new from the dealer show room. I drive 100 miles a day commuting so maintenance & care was a key. it will past 400k miles and still drive as good. I can't wait for the additional ft86 to share the road

Cost is a factor for this car; Fuel, maintenance, insurance etc. All of those are important not just the purchase price.

I understand what companies and others are trying to do with these ideas, and I also know that we are getting better with how cars make power direct cylinder injection/laser ignition. But what ever you wanna do, to me if you don't have the money to support a sports car, and your worried about gas, then don't get one.
The CR-Z is a little too slow to be considered a sporty car. It gets great mileage, but it can barely merge on to highways without loosing it's eco-friendly edge. If it did 0-60 in 6.5-7 seconds, I'm sure it would have been more popular with enthusiasts since it could actually perform when you wanted it to. The FR-S will probably be considered a "sporty" car too, but I doubt it will go fast in a straight line.

Muscle cars are definitely pretty cheap nowadays, but they're also efficient and aerodynamic. Look at the new Mustang. As much as it pains me to say, the new Mustang is an amazing car. Even the V-6 is a helluva buy at $23k. It's pushing over 300hp, 13.7 second 1/4miles and it does damn well on the track. All the while getting decent fuel economy(19/29).

I don't know what the collective FR-S fan base is expecting this car to get fuel economy wise, but does it REALLY matter? Just looking at the numbers, I drive my vehicles a combined 10k miles per year.

If the FR-S averages 20mpg over 10k miles and gas averages $4/gallon, I'm spending $2000 a year on gasoline.

If the FR-S averages 25mpg over 10k miles and gas averages $4/gallon, I'm spending $1600 a year on gasoline.

Do you expect to average over 25mpg in the FR-S? I hope not. Will spending an extra $400 a year, $8 a week for gas break the bank? I hope not, but if so maybe a Yaris is more up your ally.

The purchase price is really the only important part. It's a Toyota, so unless they make us use LiquiMoly GT1 5w40 every 2000miles and fill up with VP110 and nothing lower, maintaining and refueling it won't be too expensive. But it is also a 2door, so insurance isn't going to be as cheap as say... a Corolla.
