86Drift Race Headers

I thought I'd share my latest development. I can't say I'm the first but I am happy with the results.

After taking all the measurements and running the computer models, it was determined that there wasn't enough room to get the lengths required to make a 4-2-1 system. So, 4-1 it is. Next was to determine objectives. This is a header designed for racing. So noise, emissions, etc are not taken into account. Since cams and other internals aren't yet available, the headers were designed around the stock motor and redline. With the primary power band being 5-7k. The models determined 1.5" primaries. We added a small step up in the primaries to aid high rpm power. Since the exhaust ports are larger than 1.5" the pipe is flared for a smooth transition. That's about it for the specs. Now for some pics.

So my impressions after driving with the new headers. I'm in love.
The one thing I was disappointed with when I picked up my car with the exhaust note. Why the hell would you make a sports car sound like a Camry. Problem solved, it now sounds the way it should. Fuel consumption has increased as i'm finding myself flooring the throttle just to hear the sound. It's totally stock exhaust other than the headers.
I'm sure it's half in my head (due to the sound) and half real, but I can definitely feel an improvement in response and power.
So far no CEL has come up and nor do I expect one to.
I'm yet to weigh them, but it's a hell of a lot lighter than the stock header.

I've been waiting for someone to bring out headers. And even better you're in Australia

How is the power down low effected? Was the dyno run with an otherwise stock exhaust? Any sound/video clips?

Power down low really hasn't changed, nor has the torque dip. But once it climbs out of the dip it makes good power all the way to the redline.
Stock exhaust apart from headers. Only non-standard part is a drop in K&N filter.

I have another Hillclimb in a week and a half. I'll take video and sound clips then. I did the same with standard headers, so we'll be able to hear a direct comparison.

Edit: My bad, it looks great so far, can't wait for your videos!

Please don't ask price or buying details

I don't want to upset the mods and have this moved to the classified section. I'll create a thread there for that discussion.

Do you have any idea what the bellows/accordion is for in the original headers?

OP great job on the headers! Looks awesome! Got any plans to make a Racing Exhaust to match you're headers?

is this EL or UEL (im guessing EL)? Also can we get a exhaust video? I also do not care for how loud it is nor emissions, if it sounds good i will make a full straight back exhaust for my car .

As the block and heads heat up they will expand and the flanges will get slightly farther away from each other.

Yes. Most likely the race exhaust will be just for my car, or possibly special order as I don't think many people would be interested in it as a track pipe/muffler delete will be enough for most people.

Equal length. Well as close as we could get it. All are within 20mm. I'll make a video in a bit over a week. It'll be worth the wait
