If true, then it sounds like they haven't figured out the problem yet.

Disturbing.

This should be interesting. Keep us posted. Thanks.

Was just told all the cars at the Houston distribution center have had their ECU flashed as of today. And that mine would be flashed within the next few days. And would receive a check for two of my payments.

Communication from my dealer has been good. I'm just nervous about the ECU fix. Could be like someone else mentioned, a workaround for a mechanical issue. Hopeful that it is simply a fix for faulty ECU code.

My car been in shop since 8/31/12. Dealer just installed VVTI parts and threw another CEL. I suspected this since no word from dealer all day. Will update when I hear more from corporate.

Does anyone have links to some of the Japanese GT86 forums. I wanted to use Chrome's translate feature to figure out if any of the JDM cars are having the same issue...

From what my Japanese friends have been telling me, yes.

(I lived in Japan quite a long time, and just moved back last year). Tons of connections ^__^

I saw your video on the BRZ forums (link on the first page). Nice job on that as it really highlights the problem. That should help owners/dealers understand exactly what we are contending with here. Good luck on your repairs...it's not a fun road to travel down.

There seem to be two lines of info going forward in this thread:

1) Toyota is putting in a new ecu.

2) Toyota is reflashing the ecu that one has.

Need clarification, please.

Its my understanding that most dealers do not have whatever equipment is needed to apply the software. And there are not very many of these available. I know mine does not have the equipment to flash my car. So the options are to ship a new ECU with the new software, or ship the flashing tool.

Well... I called and asked for part numbers on the ECU that I would be getting. My dealer service adviser told me he'll see what he can find and try to get back with me by tomorrow, I also checked with Scion HQ. Darren a guy I'm sure many of you guys have spoken to during this entire fiasco says it's not an ECU on order but just a revised flash that's getting sent.

Which makes me wonder why it's taking days to get to them. You can email map parameters etc... only thing I can think of is they're sending a hand held with only the revised map on it to flash it. (Cobb AccessPort like, lol)
