Planing on Weddsport TC105N 18x8 +42 with 225/40 Michelin Pilot Super Sport.
Budget says I have to wait til spring.

Gives me time to burn off the current rubber though.

the biggest bummer for me, is that my car is getting replaced, so I am not too motivated to put my wheels on till the new one comes. I am definitely not lowering this car in the mean time.

I am a total noob so I am gonna toss a curve ball, rather than going up in size
I personally will go down in size to 16x7 on 225/50-16 on wheels
like Motegi tracklite that weight 12lbs.

maybe I am getting old so my opinion is not with the times.

bigger wheels LOOk cool but are NOT faster
bigger tires will increase your unsprung rotating weight
better rubber will go further than more of it

23 lbs Direzza Star Spec in stock size for general road and track use on OZ 17x7.5 rims weighing in at 15.x lbs(15.2?) offer great carcass rigid- for tracktime,

the 7.5 will also allow use of a hoosier 225/40-17 for dedicated track weekends

I dont think you need a bigger contact patch till youre making more power
I dont think youre faster on any 18, unless youre making more power
18s look cooler, but if you want fast, stay on a 17

or as pervious poster suggested, smaller and lighter IS faster

Here is my setup. Honestly, I will probably only do springs. I will decide after a track day though.

17x8 +44
235/45/17 Dunlop Direzza's

That looks very sweet! I would at least do a spring change, I think it will add that finishing touch to your car. Plus it may help with body roll since you have wider and stickier tires. Or some sways.

Is there a wheel size I could go with where I wouldn't have to change the size of the wheels for a greater contact patch if I ever decide to go turbo around 275-300whp?

I would really like a 17x7.5 +48mm . They are the JDM STI wheels for the BRZ. They also have 18x7.5 +48mm.

Kinda worried it would be a waste of money if I needed a wider wheel in the event I go turbo.

If I had that type of wheel hp, I would be thinking 9/9.5 and maybe a 10 in rear. For me, 300whp is too much for this car, but that is my opinion.

I absolutely agree. The max I'm really looking at is 275whp if I go FI.

I got this response from Paul who is making the AVO turbo when I asked about a 17x7.5j +48mm wheel.

"That setup should be just fine, honestly. The only issue will be if you want to run larger brakes, as the +48 setup isn't going to have much space. That's purely a personal preference, though."

Yeah my goal is to get as much power NA as possible. I hope I can get a good amount, but at teh same time I am totally happy with what I have right now as well. A little more would be fun though.

Optimal wheel size for stock power? That's easy. Stick to stock wheels.

Especially since some folks here are sensitive to changes in their ODO/trip/speed/mpg readings
