I was the first one on their order list as 2 others that ordered were already filled. Their wait time was only 3 weeks. You have to keep in mind that I'm in the North East and dealers do not get their cars from SOA. They get them from SDC or SNE which buy directly from SOJ. The North East is getting a majority of the allocations right now.

Even still, three weeks is only barely enough time for a ship to get from Japan to the US, assuming it got built the day it was ordered. I'm betting your car was already 'in-country', or at least in-process.

Definitely was not in country at the time of the order. I got my VON 5 days after ordering and was told 2 weeks later that it had been fulfilled and on a boat heading over here. In any case, my point is that the North East is getting a majority of the shipments. There are dealerships up here with cars sitting unsold on the lots while dealers in the rest of the country have waiting lists 30+ deep. If you really want your car now, it's best to look at picking up one from a NE dealer.

I think you're absolutely correct re the rest of the country. I cancelled my 4/18 DGM Limited order the end of July because SOA would not tell me when I could expect my car. Luckily, I found the GBS I now have a reasonable distance away in MN. Great car but really poor customer experience.

My dealer actually called me this morning - they had a customer back out of an order on a WRB Limited that arrived this week, and they offered it to me. I ordered mine (black) on 7/9, and I'm thinking I'm looking at December or January. But I can't hang with the blue, so I'll wait.

I'm not in a hurry, it'll get here when it gets here.

Yeah, definitely get what you want.

Just called the dealership and the car showed up last night and they sent their confirmation to Subaru that they received the shipment. Just have to wait for Subaru to process the paperwork and overnight the ownership paperwork to the dealer before I can take delivery. Going to try to stop by tonight to at least check it out though.

I knew there was something screwy going on. I'll wait over seven months for mine in the NW, while buyers in the NE get theirs in weeks? SOA seems to operate a lot like our government.
When the car gets here (Nov/Dec) at least it will have summer tires on it!

Well, the way I understand it is that Subaru based allocations on WRX/STi sales. Apparently that means that most of the allocation is heading towards the NE because they sell more WRX/STi's than the rest of the country. SOA, SDC, and SNE all put in their orders for cars to SOJ.

So basically, someone at Subaru vastly underestimated the demand for this new car. I'm sure they will get it straightened out for next year, but for those that ordered this year and are still waiting, it does suck.

New England has a separate distributorship than the rest of the US. Because their sales volumes are so much higher, they get more product because they can turn it over faster.

Called SoA today, no hold time!

Guy I talked to was pretty helpful, but agreed with last month's assessment that it is going to be "after November." Two months ago it was "November, September if you're lucky." That got bumped back :/

I brought up how it bothered me that another dealership within 100 miles got an out of allocation surprise delivery that matched my order. He said he was escalating it to his manager and someone would call me back.

I feel your pain. I'm kinda nervous about having my first RWD in almost 10 years come with summer tires in a PNW winter. I'm currently 5 months in, will be 7-9 months from putting down a deposit when I get the car. I'm actually seriously considering withdrawing my deposit and knocking out my student loans with the down payment I've saved up.

Got a call back today, and was also contacted by my dealer. I guess raising a fuss over that identical delivery elsewhere was the right thing to do. Looks like they pushed and got me a delivery date.

March.

11 months after my order.

Wow.
