Dealer requests before BRZ pick up
So CBS BRZ is coming in soon and was wondering what prep stuff should I request the dealer not to do before getting the car. I been hearing that the detail workmanship has been bad and people have been requesting the dealer to not wash or handle the car in anyway besides check ups.
My list so far includes not to get my bumper drilled for the plates cause Im going to get the perrin license plate holder

It's not that the detail workmanship is bad, it's that they often use the same towels to wash multiple cars. When you do this, any dirt/particles captured in the towel act like sandpaper to the paint on the car. Most people won't see the swirl marks or scratches because the dealer then uses wax to fill them in. Only after a thorough wash do all the imperfections become apparent. This is why most folks prefer to wash/wash the car themselves or bring it to their detailer of choice.

*Don't put the dealership sticker on the back
I forgot this one, but it came off easy enough. |

Tell them to leave the wrap on the car that is on there when it comes off the truck.
Also tell them not to touch the paint of the car whether it's to wash, wipe down, absolutely nothing. Also tell them no silicone or detail products on the wheels and engine bay. No Armor All inside the car. I heard people talk about not having the dealer prep the car. I told them not to do it either. Well, they didn't prep but they washed it. Not only did the car end up having swirls in the paint but the dirt trapped in their towels also put swirls in the windshields and windows! It cost me about $400 to have the entire car polished with an application of Wolf's Hard Body to it, the wheels, and a Wolf's Glass Sealant. Maybe you can save some money bringing it in for the detail with your paint in better condition. Also make sure they activate your traffic updates for your NAV. It comes to them activated but they don't realize it's for 24 hours just so the techs can see that it works. After that they need to activate the owner's trial period.

All are good suggestions. Depending on how competent you believe your salesperson to be, you may want to tell him and either the sales manager or service manager, just so there's no mistakes. Sometimes the hustle and bustle causes small details to be forgotten. Put it on paper and give it to them so they remember.
If you tell them you'll give them a perfect survey as a condition of all the specifics being met, they'll be more inclined to get it 100% right

I requested my dealer not to install the front license plate bracket, because I saw one guy on here had HOLES drilled into the mustache section of the bumper. I might install it if indeed it does not require drilling, else I might go with one of those side mount brackets.

maps - thanks for this thread. i was actually gonna post something similar.
in addition to dealer requests, does anybody have things to watch out for? like things that the dealer will try to sell you even though they are not needed. here a list i came up with as i have been reading the forums: VIN etching maintenance plans interior/exterior protectants |

-Subaru extended warranty, if you plan on modifying the car. That's kind of a no-brainer, I suppose
If you don't plan on modifying it, it could be a good idea. The wheel and tire coverage alone could pay for itself depending on where you live. Your call.-I would hold off on adding any accessories because you should be able to get them online for cheaper, unless your dealer gives you a comparable discount on them. -Nitrogen-filled tires are probably a waste of dough. -Lo-jack is probably a stupid idea on a BRZ Limited; I have no idea how someone would steal your car without the smart key. Might be a stupid idea on any car with a chipped key?

Add "free cake" to the end of your checklist, just to see what kind of reaction you get. Worst case scenario, no free cake. Best case scenario, free cake!
