Some pics of 'typical JDM' wheels on GT86s here
http://www.gt86ownersclub.co.uk/foru...d_topic92.html

My impression of JDM wheel-snobbery (which is basically what you're asking I think)
Dish is good, bigger and wider is good up to a point.
Japanese brands are preferred (Work, Enkei, Rays etc). Forged is preferred over cast construction as it's lighter for the same size/strength.
Rota (copies of JDM wheels, cast but fairly strong/light, based in the Philippines) acceptable if you don't want to spend so much and want new wheels.
Quality european wheels like e.g. a classic mesh BBS is totally fine, if you want to be different.
Non-original OEM wheels (e.g. swapped from a BMW) = poor
Cheap high-street or eBay wheels (e.g. TSW) = very poor

With that said, I think the folks on this forum are a little more performance oriented then the typical JDM forum. If you hit NASIOC, there's a lot more stretch and poke going on there.

But, if you do get into an FRS/BRZ early, I'm sure you can help develope bags and such if you're still interested in that type of ride.

Otherwise, I'd say just hang out for a while and get a feel for what you want to do.
I appreciate your input, however the whole reason im selling the gti is to get back to my roots of a performance based car... I used to have eibach springs on the gti and didnt think it would be a big difference going to bags, but the change was DRASTIC. I could no longer hug any turns the way I used to and not to mention it added a shit ton of weight to the car thus making it a lot slower

Bolt pattern is 5x100
18's and 19's looks best on the car.
8.5" looks best up front with the proper camber
9.5" looks best in rear with similar camber
I've been told a 2.15" drop will get you perfectly dead even maybe even rubbing with 19's in the above width.
With this car you have a very wide variety of choices for wheels and not many people will judge unless you choose some super ugly ass wheels.

Hope this helps.

Sounds like you have a plan. The performance of these cars stock is great. I think you're going to enjoy owning one.
