It will probably eventually rip, but that's what gorilla glue or expertise with a needle and thread is for. I'd rather be more comfortable than not.
Without that little strap the belt is annoying as hell.

You just quoted, word for word, what my wife said the second time she rode in the car.

There are very few things I didnt like about this car stock, but are work in progress:

1. Lack of low-end torque (plan on getting this increased)
2. Brake disks rust when they get wet (plan on changing these)
3. Amber side markers (already changed)
4. Antenna (already changed)
Gee, I have never had brake disks that didn't rust after a rain. Are you talking about those multi-thousand dollar ceramic fiber ones that you can get on a Porsche?

I will say that I don't hate the cup holders as much as I thought I would based off all the complaints I heard about them. Works fine for me.

I hate that the only FR-S I could get in the next 3 months was an automatic But I need a car, so...auto it is.

For me as for others, the cup-holders are useless in any position; if I can get some kind of after market center console we'll see what happens... I can't see using them as is, though--they're just in the wrong place no matter where my seat is positioned.

But this is a small nitpick. Other than the cup holder layout, I'm very, very happy so far!

Yea, they aren't "great" but I don't have any problem with them. Maybe it's because I'm left handed that helps. I have them in the forward position and reach under my right arm with my left hand, grab whatever's there and put it back. Don't even have to look.

Being right-handed, I can confirm that I don't have a huge issue with them, other than not having any room to plug anything in if the cupholders are in the forward position. However, the holders on the doors are significant enough that I can hold a drink in there with minimal worry.

Not a hate but a PITA...
I've found that because of my height, I have to slide the driver's seat all the way to the rear and I do the same to the passenger seat so that the car looks symmetrical. Because of this, I can't fold the rear seat back until I move both front seats forward. Then I can fold the rear seat down and then have to move the front seats back again. To raise the rear seat back, I have to play the same game.
I've had other cars with this 'issue' also, so it's not FR-S specific.

Sometimes, it's tough being a tall, good looking guy. Don't hate me for that!

- Heavy flywheel? This could be more of an effect from the pedal lag
- No steering wheel audio controls. Not taking hands off the wheel or eyes of the road to change tracks, volume, etc is great. Why would subaru not have this?

An armrest would be nice, the shifter is a bit too far forward for my tastes, and some lumbar adjustment in the seats would be appreciated, but I wouldn't call any of these hates.
Revised hate-list after having the car through break-in
Accelerator lag, dainty little girl clutch, heavy flywheel?, and mis-located shifter I have gotten used to, so now my other car is going to feel incredibly awkward the next time I drive it. I still don't like not feeling the clutch engagement in my leg...from a stop I just have to feel it with the car lurching forward, and while moving it's more of a faith thing.

The lack of steering wheel audio controls is annoying me far more than I thought it would...every volume adjustment and track/mode change conjures a tiny amount of anger, and I still start out trying to change these on the wheel about 1/5 times.

No holder for sunglasses is also starting to rank pretty high for me.

The cupholders as well...I didn't think I would really care, but they are sized to only fit a fatass American super-mega gulp. It's like somebody told Subaru that Americans only buy giant Sodas. For the BRZ, you would think that they could have sized cup-holders for fancy-ass coffee-sized cups. The placement in the center console is awkward if you are trying to drink from whatever is there, but I normally just use it to hold a cup of coffee to drink at my desk.

The lack of armrest is promoted to a hate. It took more driving in traffic and waiting at stoplights to surface, but it is irksome.

Still don't like the seats for long drives, but they are fine for shorter trips and hold you in place well.

So, there's my improvement list for 2014...add steering wheel audio controls, sunglasses holder, and an armrest, and I will have to trade in my car for a new one...especially if they can find some more torque hanging around.

It's a low car. The headlights on larger cars and semi's on the highway at night shoot straight into the mirrors.

Why do people on a Japanese car forum use the derogatory word "Japs" as a substitute for Japanese or Asian.

"Jap is an English abbreviation of the word "Japanese." Today it is generally regarded as an ethnic slur, although English-speaking countries differ in the degree to which they consider the term offensive. In the United States, Japanese Americans have come to find the term controversial or offensive, even when used as an abbreviation.[1] In the past, Jap was not considered primarily offensive; however, during and after the events of World War II, the term became derogatory"
