Not really. You guys are used to WRX & STI sounds. Stock NA boxer is pretty quiet

I agree. And in NA, I would think that the Celica name carries a bit more weight than the AE86/FT86 nomenclature.

I don't know, maybe. Could be partly that, could be that they didn't rev the engine that high when the video was going, could also be a mix of background/ambient noise, could also be that the car isn't that loud stock.

But this stock NA 2.5RS sure sounds louder to me but obviously the video and mic are right by the exhaust with the guy reving the engine as well.

Well usually it's not random. You have freelance photogs out there who wait at key places (Nuburgring is a safe bet), that then sell their shots to bigger names (Brenda Priddy, Lehman, etc). Or you have some in Death Valley, where they undergo torture tests. Or some hanging out near R&D proving grounds.

From :39 to :59 you can hear the engine. Even when he slows down for that bump and then guns it you can hear the engine.

True, but at the same time, camera wasn't right next to the exhaust either. If you drive around and look around if you can see Impreza/Forester/Legacy (stock NA) and try to hear their exhaust sound, cuz it's not loud at all

Yes, I know & I loved! I put my surround sound on full blast to make sure I hear that exhaust noise perfectly! LOL

I don't know how Death Valley works. But for this video, especially from seconds 38 to 1:05 the clip is literally taken out in the middle of nowhere on some small country road. It isn't like it is in some major metro area with a bunch of other freelance guys all standing around getting clips. This almost seems planned in regards to almost being too perfect. Also in regards to watching the car pull up to the house/garage the car is being stored at. Seems very nice and convenient that the freelancer knew where the car was going that particular day/night. But maybe these freelance guys really are that lucky and just hang out on random street corners in the middle of nowhere?

Yeah I think it is more likely the matter of poor mic, too much background noise...etc. I wasn't expecting anything too crazy just more along the lines of the youtube video I embedded.

First things shall be first, and I'll have a custom bent exhaust (pending on how quick it is for aftermarket support) if need be. But being a NA car, anyone who had any NA car before with a full header + catback exhaust, this thing will be loud, and I personally can not wait.

Listen to that engine! WOW! And look at the size of those rear tires! They're so wide! WOW! OMG! Look at how high that wing is! +100 hp for that! WOW! they must really be struggling to get some downforce on that 4 cylinder beast!
