Thanks for the welcome guys.

Growing up with no silver spoon and having crappy cars (some purchased for $1 (one) dollar - real POS) had an impact on me. Those who appreciate cars as we do would understand this. I was determined to overcome the "crappy car syndrome". My first new car came at the age of 20, 1990 CRX Si followed by countless Civics (Si, coupe EX, sedan), a few Accords, a few SUVs, eventually getting into an S2000, 08 Convertible Vette, a couple of IS350s, (SC430 and M3 work cars for a year).

Looking back, I guess you could say that for me, the "crappy car syndrome" fostered in a car addiction of sorts. I assure you though, it was only through constant (and continued) hard work and advancing my education & skill set that was able to feed this car addiction. Nothing came easy and it still doesn't.

That said, I purchased the FR-S for my son who also has a strong appreciation for cars. He is far from spoiled. I'm simply giving him what I never had.

BTW: Thanks to all who contribute to this forum and make it a wealth of FR-S info! The DYI section is extremely useful and will contribute as we do projects.

I must admit, I am tempted to pick up a Limited BRZ (my azz likes leather) for work. The FR-S / BRZ brings me "home" as they remind me of the many Civic Si, S2000 of past. But two issues immediately come to mind.

1. The FR-S / BRZ seat it is not exactly comfortable in the lumbar area. This of course can be overcome with a small pillow.

2. My Vette - with over 550hp at the wheels (it has mods), well, enough said.

FWIW: Not flaunting, rather sharing. I figured that fellow car enthusiasts would appreciate seeing / hearing from one who has "been there, done that" and rendered the pics as validity and to avoid the "proof in pic" crap.

Drive safe, drive fun!

No, I didn't trade in the Vette for an FR-S. Rather, picked up the FR-S for my youngest son and looking forward to good ol' father / son bonding by teaching him how to do mods on this fun car. The FR-S is a wonderful addition to its new stable mates, an IS350 (F-Sport), RX350 AWD, and of course, the Corvette Grand Sport.

Hello from South Florida, fellow FR-S owners / drivers.
Congrats, hello from SoFlo. Looks like Coral Gables? idk lol

Thanks for the inspiration. I have been a car guy ever since my dad showed me the electric radiator fan on his Omni O24 when I was 3. I too came from am S2000 and went back to school at 28 to further my education so I too, will be able to enjoy life with some fun cars. Wife wants to own a Vette one day herself

Vette looks nice. Nice looking neighborhood too looks like the grand dunes here in Myrtle beach, SC I can't afford a $750,000 house yet so I am stuck in a $275,000 house for now. I have a Firestorm FR-S just like your son's, and next on the List will be a 2013 Camaro RS Convertible, should have enough cash saved up by March to buy it. I have terrible credit so I have to save up for stuff I want and pay cash.

With much restraint I'll post a tame pic. She "does exist" and also has an appreciation for cars (rubbed off from me). Actually, she drives the Vette along the beach rather often. I'm proud of her and is the complete package if you know what I mean. Please be respectful and no, I will not be posting anymore revealing pics of her here as this is not the proper place for that.

Doc's wife and the GS Vette...

Oh, not the Gables... More along the lines of Boca Raton. :happy0180:

Suggestion if I may. Wait for the 3rd model year of the C7 Corvette. The C7 is the next generation Vette due out late next year. Your wife will love the Vette!! Start saving now $$.

Going from a 2011 C63 AMG to an FR-S, now that is a big change. Sounds like a divorce or something major came along. For replacement power at a reasonable price, Mustang GT? That new Coyote 5.0 engine is pretty hot.

In short - I'm more of a libertarian; fiscally conservative but socially liberal. Your response is under false presumption and without true understanding of the 1% group. Most of the 1% are upper-middle class professionals (doctors, lawyers, etc.) who are taxed at the same rate as the truly wealthy. However, those who are truly wealthy have the funds and know-how to pay essentially nothing. Go figure.

Doc,

You seem like a great guy with his head on straight. It's good to know that I'm not the only one who never "outgrew" the "car phase" like everyone predicted. What sort of mods do you have planned for you and your son to tackle?
