Not entirely true, but it saves me from having to buy 2 sets of 18s, but anyways a car feels more responsive and sportier in that size. Why would they want to handicap it. Why would their FWD coupe have 18s and a RWD sports coupe not?

I think it's good enough for 17". I would get 15" to swap for track day and winter too.

15s now your smoking. Brakes are going to be too big. The car is going to weigh over 2800lbs. 17s will probably be the smallest size wheels to fit over brakes.

15s on a 91 civic or 83 rabbit gti is good. 15s and low profile tires on this and it will be scraping its subframe.

18" for daily

18" for track day less sidewall, less flex, more real tire choices.

Given a large enough brake rotor and enough pistons to stop the car on the dime (and repeatedly do so under track day conditions), I'd want to go with the smallest wheel size possible, because the smaller the wheel, the less power-sapping rotational mass there is. I'd be plenty happy with 17" wheels if they can accommodate brakes that are strong enough.

Any idea what the specs are for those Subaru (JDM Legacy STI?) wheels? bolt pattern and offset, wheel size and width?

Not to be jack ass or anything, but next time search my friend. We did have conversation bout that x100.

spec goes like this
for 17's
17x7
17x7.5
17x8
bolt pattern
5x100 or 5x114.5

for 18's 18x8 (iirc)
bolt pattern
5x114.5

Friend,

I am aware that a base Impreze and WRX runs 5x100 with 48-ish offset. I am also aware that the STI runs 5x114.3 with a 48-ish offset. Unfortunately, the info you provide doesn't really narrow anything down.

But

If the info didn't help. Of course, it didn't help. I just told you the specs only. BUT if you look at several pics of the test car, you can guess what size the wheels & tires they're running. My bet is on 17x7.5 w 215/45/17... but that's my guess and not a fact, so don't quote me.
