One could argue a troll would be the new guy who appears in a car forum complaining about steering wheel vibrations during a test drive because he's sensitive enough to feel them.
Read/watch the reviews (close to 100 of them) looking for steering vibration problems. You won't find a mention. In the car you drove it could have been a few things. - alignment is off - wheels/tires unbalanced - different amount of air in one side compared to the other It could also have been caused by the road surface. What kind of car are you used to driving? If the tire sidewalls in your daily driver are taller/softer you may not be able to feel the road surface as well as you did during your test drive. |

I may have just joined, but i've been reading this forum for over a year, so yes I am quite familiar with the hundreds of reviews that do not make mention of it. Thus, if you read carefully, you will notice I asked (not "complained") if anyone else is sensitive enough to notice these vibrations, thereby narrowing the field of potential responses to only those with an acute awareness of said vibrations.
Being a relatively new car that was test driven, I would be surprised that it was a misalignment issue, hence I was trying to understand what else could be causing it, since I drove on several different road surfaces (city streets and freeway, smooth and bumpy) and still experienced it. I'd be relieved to know that changing tires could alleviate this issue [for me because it is an issue to me], but would prefer to confirm prior to purchasing the car. Quote:

Look to see if the car during idle fluctuates RPM rather quickly.

The simplest answer to all of this is to schedule a test drive with another dealer that has another car. If you feel the same thing, than this is not the car for you. That's life. Hundred's of reviewers didn't pick up on vibrations not because they are not sensitive enough, it's likely because they didn't experience it. Trust me, when you spend years (and possibly decades) of your life testing cars for a living, you get pretty sensitive to nearly every nuance of a car. |
